It’s Time to Start Making Music Again Huntington Community Band Members!

Just as sure as the number of gray hairs on my head increase every year, it’s time to start planning again for the summer ahead and our 72nd season of making music together! We are embarking on a very challenging summer of concerts this year with some awesome music, guest conductors and soloists in the works. I have been busy working behind the scenes since the end of last season to procure music, work on calendar dates, secure our guest musicians and to make certain that we’ll have a terrific season. Now, it’s YOUR turn. Please check and mark your calendars accordingly. Following last season I had a H-U-G-E number of folks ask about joining the band. Please get your response back quickly so that I can fill any seats, as necessary. We’re looking at a FULL HOUSE in 2017!

As usual, I am reaching out to each of you to secure band sponsorship donations (suggested $50 minimum per member). Once again, our Town of Huntington funding is FROZEN (at the same level as it was back in 1992 – 25 years ago!). Sponsor checks should be made payable to HUNTINGTON COMMUNITY BAND and sent to my attention. Sponsorship donations cover new sheet music, rental fees, guest conductor/soloist fees, production expenses, rehearsal permit fee, supplies and of course, our end of season party to which all members and a guest are invited. All sponsors will be highlighted in our program for the entire season.

Here is our 2017 rehearsal and concert schedule:

*Your regular attendance at ALL rehearsals is required in order to maintain active membership in the band and to perform on concerts. REHEARSALS START PROMPTLY @ 7:15 AT HARBORFIELDS HS.

**All concerts take place at the Chapin Rainbow Stage – Heckscher Park, Huntington Village (corner of Main Street and Prime Avenue – BAND CALL IS 8pm SHARP (Rain or Shine) Concert dress: White band shirt (or, plain white polo, shot-sleeved shirt), black pants. Band shirts will be available for $20.

As of this time we are awaiting confirmation of the availability of our rehearsal site at Harborfields HS. I will confirm this on both our website and Facebook page.Please do notwait or forget to return your commitment form by email or USPS. It is difficult to follow-up on folks who drag their feet. So, please just let me know either way if the band may count on your participation.Our season begins in JUST 2 months! You will not want to miss any part of our 72nd season … please respond ASAP with your commitment and please help us to continue making beautiful music together by securing band donations. BAND SPONSORSHIP: The full cost of running the HCB each seasonis only partially underwritten! There is a TREMENDOUS need for contributions from HCB musicians, friends, neighbors and/or businesses each season to help defray expenses. Your $50.00+ donation goes towards underwriting the cost of getting this band together every season. PLEASE HELP! *If every HCB member secured just $50 a year in sponsors, we would be fully self-sustaining for the season. Band sponsors will have their name in our program for the entire season.
