Postdoctoral Fellowships & Taxes
o Per government guidelines, the university does not withhold taxes from the stipends received by postdoctoral fellows who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The stipends are not considered wages, but they are taxable as income. Fellows are responsible for paying local, state, and federal estimated quarterly income tax as needed to meet their tax obligations. Some helpful links:

The NCFDD is a professional development, training and mentoring community. Center for Cognitive Behavioral Brain Imaging
http://ccbbi.osu.edu/ Housed in the Department of Psychology, The Center for Cognitive and Behavioral Brain Imaging (CCBBI) in the College of Arts and Sciences is a new state-of-the art interdisciplinary research facility dedicated to pursuing structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) studies. It aims to contribute to the development of future brain imaging modalities and to create and disseminate knowledge about brain, mind, and imaging research.

Hosted by the department of Psychology, The Center for Cognitive science is one of the premiere cognitive science programs in the country and supports signature programs in linquistics, psychology, philosophy and computer science making for a vibrant cognitive science community of 65 affiliated faculty spanning 24 departments and 8 colleges. State of the art research facilities including eye tracking and electrophysiology laboratories.
Criminal Justice Research Center

Provides a focal point for collaborative interdisciplinary research on crime/delinquency and criminal/juvenile justice issues. The center lends expertise to agencies such as the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services, Ohio Department of Youth Services, and the Columbus Division of Police.
Initiative in Population Research

IPR is the centerpiece of Ohio State’s Population and Health Targeted Initiative in Excellence (TIE). The initiative collaborates with the Appalachian Regional Commission, Save the Children Federation, and agencies concerned with welfare and immigration policies.

Center for Human Resource Research

Focuses on a wide range of contemporary problems related to developing and conserving human resources. The center designs survey instruments, oversees field work, and generates data sets for researchers in government, private research organizations, and universities. The center houses longitudinal databases for the study of labor supply, earnings and income distribution, job search and separation, and labor market inequities. The largest center project is the National Longitudinal Surveys of Labor Market Experience (NLS).
