A RESOLUTION honoring the George Rogers Clark High School Lady Cardinals upon winning the 10th Region Tournament.
WHEREAS, on March 9, 2014, the George Rogers Clark Lady Cardinals defeated Montgomery County 56-46 to capture the 10th Region Championship and qualify for the 2014 KHSAA Girls Sweet Sixteen; and
WHEREAS, the championship was the culmination of an extraordinary season, as the Lady Cardinals won 25 games against only seven defeats, and were able to knock off region host Mason County in the semifinals to advance to the championship game; and
WHEREAS, the title was the Lady Cardinals' first regional crown since 2010. They were ably directed by Coach Robbie Graham, who is in his second season in the position. The team was led in the championship game by Sandra Skinner and Sydney Anderson, who each scored 11 points, and Lexxus Graham, who scored 16; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Cardinals will advance to the 2014 KHSAA Girls Sweet Sixteen at E.A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green. Their return to the Sweet Sixteen is a rightful testament to the hard work and dedication that Coach Graham and his players have displayed this season, and this honorable body congratulates the Lady Cardinals for their 10th Region Championship; acknowledges the leadership of Coach Graham and his staff; and wishes the players, their support staff, and everyone in the George Rogers Clark High School community best of luck in the state tournament;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
Section 1. The Senate hereby commends the George Rogers Clark High School Lady Cardinals upon winning the 10th Region Tournament and grants them best wishes as they compete in the 2014 KHSAA Girls Sweet Sixteen in Bowling Green.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of the George Rogers Clark High School Lady Cardinals.
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mr. David Bolen, Principal, George Rogers Clark High School, 2745 Boonesboro Road, Winchester, Kentucky 40391.
