A Message from the Principal’s

July 2013

Welcome to Bellport High School,

My name is Marcus Petty and I will be the new Principal for the 2013-2014 school year. We are very excited to get the school year underway knowing we have some of the best and brightest students around. We have created a supportive and rigorous environment to help students reach their full potential. As a school faculty and staff we look forward to partnering with you (parents) and your child in order to provide the best education experience possible. Our faculty and staff are a group of highly qualified individuals which use a variety of learning techniques in order to meet the individual learning need of each student while operating in a group/team environment.

About me

Prior to my appointment at Bellport High School, I served as an assistant principal for two years at Bellport High School. That means I have already created positive relationships with students that will be returning as well as some parents. I started my career playing professional football and working in the field of business management. I switch careers after having kids with the hope of helping prepare todays youth’s for the real world. I received my education for Virginia Commonwealth University in the city of Richmond otherwise known as VCU.

Education for all

Here at Bellport High we understand each student is an individual and may have specific learning needs. My vision is to set up a school were all learners feel free to learn in the least restrictive environment as possible. I want the school’s community to be one of a caring nature and follow through when it comes to accommodating the learning needs of our student body. I would like for all students to interact with each other in order to foster teamwork and school spirit. Administrators, faculty, and staff in the building will not only display this attitude daily but also receive learning opportunities to become better and more informed with working with each other and with information in regard to creating an inclusive environment.

Expectations

1.  All students are expected to come to school ready to take full advantage of their learning experience.

2.  All students will be well rounded by participating in a variety of school activities designed to enhance academic, personal and social strengths.

3.  All students will have a comfortable and safe learning environment.

4.  County policy and school rules will be followed at all times.

5.  Faculty and staff will encourage students to set and achieve their educational goals.

6.  Faculty and staff will communicate with the student’s parent on a regular basis in a variety of ways in order to provide information on progress.

7.  Parents are invited to become a part of their child’s success and learning experience at our school.

Again, our faculty and staff are looking forward to partnering with the community and parents in order to make this school year a successful one for our students.

Warm Regards,

Marcus L. Petty Sr.
