Giuseppe Zamboni - Curriculum vitae
Giuseppe Zamboni, MD, is a Professor of Pathology at the Medical School of the University of Verona since 1998 and Chief of the Pathology Department of the S. Cuore-Don Calabria Hospital in Negrar, Verona, since 2000. He graduated in 1980 from the University of Padua, discussing his thesis on “Adenomatous polyps of the colon” with Prof. L. Fiore-Donati. He obtained his specialisation in Pathology from the University of Parma in 1984. He spent two years as general surgical pathologist at Vicenza Hospital before being invited to the University of Verona to focus his diagnostic activity on gastrointestinal pathology and collaborate in scientific studies with the foundling Verona group. He is one of the founding members of the pancreatic research team at University of Verona. His clinically and pathologically based knowledge was instrumental in the identification of novel pancreatic tumor types, "PEComa-Clear cell sugar tumor" and “Acinar cystadenoma" of the pancreas and the definition of inflammatory conditions of the pancreas such as autoimmune pancreatitis. He is a keystone in the Verona Pancreas group, which is renowned as the most important in Italy in this field and among the first in the world in terms of patient numbers and scientific papers, pioneering the study of molecular anomalies associated with diverse pancreatic types. As part of this group of collaborating clinicians and pathologists, he has provided a vast knowledge base that has been vital in European scientific research in the field of pancreatic tumours that has led, in the last twenty years, to the definition of clinical-pathological standards that are valid tools for diagnosis and prognostic stratification of diverse pancreatic tumor types. In 2000 he, as a member of the WHO international committee for the classification of the tumors of the gastrointestinal tract, liver and pancreas, wrote the chapter on mucinous cystic neoplasms of the pancreas. Dr. Zamboni is on the board of Virchows Archive, the official journal of the European Society of Pathology.

Author of more than 100 scientific articles and 20 book chapters. In 2000, as a member of the WHO international committee for the classification of the tumors of the gastrointestinal tract, liver and pancreas, wrote the chapters on mucinous cystic neoplasms of the pancreas, and rare tumors of the pancreas. His research interest is in the area of the gastrointestinal pathology, particularly in the field of pancreatic pathology (1-38- 39-51).
