Meeting called to order at 8:35 a.m.
Discussion Items
1) Old Business
a) Will the “Lost in Diversity” lecture be added to the May 2008 calendar? Neither MarcQus or Maggie were present, so this issue will be resolved next month.
2) New Business
a) Review of ES Surveys
i) 1/17/08 Engaging Classism
(1) Presentor was Felice Yeskel
(2) Lightly attended – about 20 people.
(3) Very positive reviews – received 7 survey responses.
(4) People suggested that it be longer to cover all of the material.
ii) 1/22/08 Transgender 101
(1) Presentor was Emily Nisley
(2) 17 people attended – received 7 survey responses.
(3) Comments were consistent and very positive.
iii) 1/28/08 Getting to Know Your GVSU Better
(1) Lightly attended – 12-14 people.
(2) Very positive reviews – received 8 survey responses.
(3) It was suggested that steps be taken to keep presenters on a certain topic and within the time constraints of their
b) Departments to consider for Fall 08 Getting to Know Your GVSU Better
i) Graduate Studies and Grants Administration – Priscilla Kimboko
ii) Student Services
iii) Athletics
iv) Sustainability/MAREC
v) Padnos International Studies
c) Topics to consider for Fall/Winter 2008
i) Lifestyle productivity – Michael Walenta??
ii) Dan Wiljanen – Any of his programming topics.
iii) Dealing w/difficult people
iv) Inter-generational communications/dynamics – Melvene will work with JC staff to see if she can secure a presenter.
v) Team goal setting
vi) Building effective leadership skills
vii) Using technology to become more effective (work/life) – Ashima Saigal @ JC has given presentations on this topic for the JC. Melvene will touch bases with her to see if she would be interested in hosting this topic.
d) Other new business
i) None.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:25am.
The next meeting is scheduled on March 14, 2008 in Lake Michigan Hall – room 116.
