Congratulations on your progression into the P1 year of the Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences program, a most significant achievement.

This year, our Professional Orientation Programswill begin on Wednesday, August 19 and conclude onFriday, August 21, 2015. In your Professional Division acceptance packet, you committed to participation in themandatory orientation programs and advancement ceremony.

A major highlight is theProfessional Advancement Ceremony, Thursday, August 20that 4:30 pm in the Nitschke Auditorium on the Main Campus.Invite your family and/or significant others (three guests per student) to attendthis special event.

Here are several important points as you plan for your Orientationevents:

  • All students entering the BSPS program MUST attendall three days of this program.
  • Laptops/tablets are required for Wednesday afternoon—see ExamSoft information below.
  • The composite class photo is taken onWednesday afternoon; please review the dress code below for appropriate attire for both Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Friday’s program concludes with a cookout and lunch with your faculty adviser.Business casual attire is appropriate for this day only.
  • Lunch will be provided on Wednesday and Friday; water and snacks will be provided on Thursday. Indicate your food allergies/dietary restrictions only--please respond by Aug. 3rdto .
  • The complete Orientation schedule will be available via the myUT PortalPharmacyCPPS News and EventsP1 Orientation.

Professional Dressis required for Orientation: Days 1 and 2, including the Advancement Ceremony:

  • Men: Dress slacks, dress shirt and appropriate tie, along with dress shoes (closed-toe only) and socks. Additional information for each major is listed below.
  • Women: Dress or skirt of appropriate/professional length (at the discretion of faculty), or slacks with dress shirt, blouse, or sweater (no visible cleavage) and dress shoes (closed-toe only) and socks or hosiery. See below for additional major-specific information.
  • Visible facial piercings (including tongue rings) should be removed; visible tattoos should be covered.
  • MBC, Cosmetic Science, PTOX, and Pharmaceutics students:Do not wear jackets since you will be wearingyour lab coat for the photo on Wednesdayand at the ceremony on Thursday evening.
  • Pharmacy Administration students: Men should wear business jackets and ties and women should dress per instructions above for thephoto on Wednesday and at the ceremony on Thursday evening.

We will be providing an overview of our computerized examination system, ExamSoft, during orientation on Wednesday, August 19th. Please bring your laptop or the tablet you plan to use for exams in the professional division curriculum. As a reminder, system requirements include:

  • at least 500MG of available memory

Further information regarding downloading ExamSoft’s SofTest will be emailed in August before our meeting so that you can practice using the software and assure it runs on your device.
