WELCOME TO THE 2016-17 SCHOOL YEAR AT SIERRA VISTA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!
My name is Clara Chavez and I will be your child’s FLS teacher this year. I am looking forward to work with your child and have a delightful year.
This will be my sixth year working with F. L. S. (Functional Living Skills) class but is my 15th year working within the Special Education program. I will be in charge of the 1st, 2nd,3rd, 4thand 5th grade students in room 106. I will be counting with the help of threeassistantsMrs. Alma Diaz, Mrs. Marielena Rodriguez and Mrs. Leticia Melgoza. Your child will receive all the attention, and support he/she needs and we willfocus on assisting your child in meeting his/her goals as defined in their IEP (Individual Education Plan) that was discussed at their most recent ARD meeting.
I will program a monthly field trip to different areas in El Paso to re-enforce theirFunctional Living Skills in a real world setting. We will also be going to swimming trips the third Wednesday of each month as Adaptive Physical Therapy. Including our staff there are plenty of volunteers and adults to supervise one to one the children at the School Aquatics Complex.
I will send a BLUE folder with “Daily Communication Notes” to let you know about your child‘s day at school. Please sign and date them daily and do not remove any notes please, we will remove them weekly. It is crucial that we maintain a good communication between School and Home, please write your concerns and/or comments as needed. Conference time is daily from 3:00 to 3:30, the classroom phone is 937-8154.
I am sending the school rules and policies please sign and return. It is very important and a School requirement that you complete all the forms in the folder and return them as soon as possible. Please complete the Lunch Application; the school has to have a new Lunch Application every year. Thank you for giving a special attention to these important documents.Within the papers you will find a photo/Video permission form, the school requires them to be sign before we get to take any picture or video of your child. I am also including the class supply listplease send the materials needed as soon as possible.
If your child is absent, please send a written note within 48 hrs after the child is back to school for us to EXCUSE the absence. The written note has to include the teacher’s name, the student’s full name and the date.
