Social Science Research Assignment # 2: Completion of a Review of Literature

1.Social Science Report in APA format must be used to analyze a particular social issue: Introduction, Review of Literature, and Hypotheses. For more details refer to Writing a Social Science Research (SSR) Report.

2.Prior to the Review, write an Introductionstating the importance of the topic, the research question, and the subtopics for the Review.

3.The Review of Literature must be: a minimum of 1500 words and based on a minimum of 10 sources.

4.The researcher may usematerial from SSR # 1 in the Review.

5.Organize the paragraphs into five sub-topics. Each sub-topic shall have a subheading: the first will be Definition and Rate of Incidence; the next three are the researcher’s choice and might deal with causes, symptoms, treatment etc. The fifth shall focus on the Catholic perspective of the topic.

6.Each subtopic must have citations from at least three different sources.

7.Canadian literature must be used in the Definition and Rate of Incidence and non-Canadian material used as a comparison. Most subtopics need to have some reference to Canadian literature. If there is a problem, see the teacher.

8.Following the five subtopics will be a Summary that consists of a statement of the main point for each subtopic(one sentence per sub-topic).

9.State two Hypothesescomparing 2 different groups based on the Review of Literature.

10.The References page must incorporate all references. All citations must have references

and vice versa.

10. In the left pocket of the folder, place SSR #1 and SSR #2 with the rubric (on the reverse

of this page).

11. In the right pocket, place all research material. Failure to submit photocopies of research

material will result in a failing mark.
