Old Business

Team Leader Reports

Treasurer(Therese)

$989.28 currently in treasury.

Upcoming expenditures: Need to print new brochures this summer. No cost estimate presented.

Safety:

Nothing to report

Utilities (Keith)

Water issues are still at the forefront of utility issues, with Tucson and Marana still in their planning stages of seeing what it takes to be the long-term provider of water to DoveMountain. Tucson wants to retain its service agreement and it is thought that Marana will want to eventually step in to take over that role.

Steve planned to do research, attend meetings, etc., and keep abreast of the issue so he can bring in residents if the time comes that DoveMountain needs to become vocal or involved in an active way.

Transportation: (Dave Cracroft)

The Arizona Department of Transportation has plans to widen Interstate-10 and improve Oracle Road. The Town of Oro Valley is also improving Thornydale and Tangerine roads. Details are available at regarding upcoming projects.

Town of Marana (Needs a leader)

Minutes of the Town Council are available on the Town Web site at as per Carol.

Parks, Recreation & Trails (Therese)

Pam Lochrie was not in attendance, so Therese gave the following report:

It takes two years minimum to go through of the red tape to get permission to start building the trails. That two years will be up in September 2004.

Residential & Commercial New Development

No report, but a discussion ensued as to how the DMCG could be better prepared for future bond elections related to such issues by inviting in the League of Women Voters or others to help educate residents on the issues.

Planning & Zoning

No report

Marana Unified School District (Bob)

The district approved a K-6 facility to be within the community on Camino de Oeste instead of on the originally planned 10-acre site on Dove Mountain Boulevard. Cottonwood Properties offered $150,000 for the development of the site and activities to take place there.

Concerns arose regarding what possible plans might be in the future for the parcel on Dove Mountain Boulevard now that it will not be used for a school, and the need to keep an eye on zoning, etc., was noted.

PimaCounty(Roger)

Roger plans to meet with representatives from Marana and PimaCounty to see what they both have on deck and to set up a working relationship with them so he can best relay information to the group.

New Business (Steve)

The board will meet for an executive session 30 minutes ahead of time, with the remainder of each meeting devoted to the presentations of our guests.

The main focus of the upcoming year will be to increase communications and to get community involvement.

DoveMountain Civic Group Web Site

Therese made a motion and Joan seconded that motion that Steve Wacker be empowered to handle the matter of hiring out to set up a Web site for the group. The motion passed without opposition. RuthAnn Hogue abstained from voting on this issue to avoid a conflict of interest.

Other Business

RuthAnn accepted the volunteer position of recorder for the group.

Steve asked the group to begin thinking about ways to raise funds for the group’s upcoming schedule and growing need to communicate with DM residents.

Meeting adjourned on time at 8:30 p.m.
