How to “Run the Podium” at NNMC

  1. Setting up the Desktop without VTC
  2. “Touch Screen” to activate the podium
  3. Turn “System Power” on the bottom of the screen “on” after which the screen should come down
  4. Select “VGA Source” on the top toolbar – this allows you to pick which media you want to project.
  5. After ensuring that the CPU is on, select “Lecturn PC” at which point the screen will turn from bright blue to dark blue on the podium (once repaired, you will instead see the desktop on the podium at this point).
  6. Press “Projector” on the right-side of the screen to display the desktop on the screen and you should be good-to-go.

** Again, the sequence is “VGA Source”  “Lecturn PC”  “Projector.” This is the key. If the computer is on standby or in sleep mode, this will not work though.

  1. Setting up the Desktop with VTC
  2. Once the podium is activated and the “system power” is on, select “Video Source” from the top toolbar.
  3. Select “VTC” from the lower toolbar. What you seen inside the small TV icon is what is being sent to the far sight.
  4. Press “Projector” to display on the drop-down screen.
  5. To dial, press “call/hang-up” and then enter the call-in number. For others to dial-in to NNMC, the number is 301-295-2407. The frequently used numbers for dialing-out are as follows:

  1. While connected to a VTC session
  2. Mute: Press the “mute” button on the VTC control screen. An icon in the lower-left hand corner will appear with a red-slash and indicate “near.” When “far” is visible, the remote site is currently muted. To un-mute simply press the “mute” button again.
  3. Volume: On the lower-right hand corner, will adjust the speaker volume at NNMC. Does not affect transmission volume however.
  4. Picture-in-picture (PIP): Turning PIP “On” will bring up a box in the lower right corner. The remote sight determines what is being sent here. When connected to WR, this allows the desktop from WR to be sent with a PIP of the podium/audience. Currently the desktop at NNMC cannot be sent to WR.
  5. Changing the view: To change cameras being sent to WR, press “video source,” then “VTC,” then select the alternate camera followed by “VTC Send” on the right side.
  6. Dead-spots: At NNMC, the mic up front on the left side (while facing the audience) currently doesn’t work. Also, when at the podium, the speaker needs to speak directly into the mic (without turning head). Be prepared to repeat comments if needed or prompt audience members to speak-up or come up front.
