WELFARE AND DISCIPLINE

As a key part of our student welfare and discipline process we aim for consistency, fairness andclear communication between students, staff and parents/caregivers.

The main steps are:

ALWAYS TALKE REPSONSIBILITY FOR THE BEHAVIOUR YOU SEE, HEAR or are TOLD about.

Your fellow teachers are counting on YOU as you are on THEM.

STUDENT DISCIPLINE - WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?

In the classroom:You as the class teacher in charge are responsiblefor dealings with inappropriate behaviour. It is crucial you follow the Classroom Rules and the 7 Steps of Consequences. Your support initially comes from your team member then your Team Leader followed by our coordinator assistant principal and then principal.

In the playground:The staff member on yard duty is responsible for following up anything they see, hear or are told about. If you need help to investigate the incident ask your team member or ESO for assistance. Follow up is a crucial part to supporting your fellow staff.

Documentation of unacceptable behaviour

Each entry needs clear detail on the proforma and also entered on GradExpert. The proforma needs to be forwarded to admin staff as they collate DEECD statistics.

It is the class teacher’s responsibility to monitor your students time outs etc

Three time outs in a four week period = a student support meeting with the child + parent/caregiver + class teacher + team leader + coordinator.

The 4th time out in a four week period = in school suspension with an alternative outside play program implemented.
