Art, Beer and Wine Festival | Event Management Intern

The Ella Sharp Museum is pleased to offer internship opportunities for qualified post-secondary students as well as those between degree programs to intern in various museum divisions throughout the year. No stipend is offered for these internships. Students are responsible for arranging academic credit with their sponsoring institutions.

We are currently seeking an Event Management Intern. Responsibilities for this position are as follows:

·  Conduct regular tours as needed in the Merriman-Sharp Farmhouse.

·  Participate in museum festivals, events, and exhibits.

·  Report to the Art, Beer and Wine Festival Director and assist with communications with vendors, community sponsors, and performers leading up to the festival

·  Assist the Development Director with strategic planning and support in obtaining sponsorships and establishing relationships with potential partners

·  Assist the Auxiliary Staff Coordinator in the effort to recruit volunteers and work with area businesses to further publicize volunteer opportunities and needs

·  Communicate marketing and promotional needs to the Marketing and Public Relations Coordinators

·  Aid in the development of the marketing plan for the event

·  Special Project

o  Responsible for a new silent auction feature with the event

o  Reach out with area businesses to obtain items that promote the Jackson community or area attractions, in efforts to raise additional funds for Museum programming.

Qualifications:

·  Student pursuing a degree in marketing, event management, business hospitality, public relations, communications, business management, or a related field

·  Excellent communication and customer service skills

·  Ability to stay calm under pressure and prioritize a variety of tasks and deadlines

·  Self-provided transportation is preferred, as some tasks may require the intern to pick up supplies, meet with business representatives, etc.

Time commitment:

15-20 hours per week
