Assignment: Using Microsoft Word Create a 1 page advertisement for the operating system you chose. Include pictures, facts, and price. Make your operating system sound EXCITING! This is the one to buy.
Some Advertising Techniques to consider:
Must-have: Suggesting that you must have the product to be happy, popular, or satisfied
Association: Using images (like a cartoon character or the American flag),in the hope you’ll transfer your good feelings about the image to the product.
Call to action: Telling you what to do—“Buy today!” or “Vote now”—removes all doubt about next steps.
Hype: Using words like amazing and incredible make products seem really exciting.
Testimonials and endorsements:
Featuring someone, like a celebrity, saying how the product worked for them can be convincing.

Buying a Computer
Directions: Review the article at on choosing a computer.
Directions: You are buying a new desktop computer. You want the computer to run Windows 8 Home Edition and Microsoft Office 2010 Home & Student. You would like a large flat panel monitor; however, you have a limited budget, and can spend no more than $800 for everything (all hardware and software)
- Research the cost of your new computer system. Search the web for computer retailers. Most computer retailers sell computers that come with all the necessary hardware, an operating system and additional software already installed.
- In the Computer Retailer #1 column of the table fill in the specifications for the computer you chose. Repeat this process with computers from two other retailers, entering the specifications in the Computer Retailer #2 and #3 columns.
- Total the costs you entered in the table for the various items. Is the total cost $800 or less? If not, revisit some of the items.
