Post: Catering Assistant– Casual Post

Hours of Work: Variable, as and when required

Salary: £7.20 per hour + 13% holiday premium

Duration of post: Casual

Location: Age UK Exeter’s Centre at 138 Cowick Street, St Thomas, EX4 1HS

Responsible to: The Catering Manager / Cook-in-Charge

Job Purpose

To be responsible for the preparation of hot and cold snacks and light lunches from a pre-prepared range, help with the serving of lunches and general kitchen duties as required and undertake washing-up on Sundays.

Main Duties

  • To prepare a variety of snacks and light lunches and assist with the serving of lunches.
  • To take a shared responsibility to ensure a safe and clean working environment.
  • To observe Health & Safety and Hygiene regulations.
  • To be prepared to undertake training appropriate to the post of Catering Assistant.
  • To be willing to help cover staff absences, i.e. annual leave and sickness, etc.
  • To be diligent in all aspects of personal hygiene.
  • To take responsibility for laundering of personal work-wear.
  • To attend staff meetings as necessary.
  • Other duties as defined by the Catering Manager / Cook-in-Charge that are consistent with the responsibilities of the post.

Probationary Period: 6 months.

Annual Leave: A 13% premium will be added to your hourly rate in lieu of annual leave. This is based on a pro-rata figure of 30 days leave pa.

Sickness: You will not be entitled to receive any pay in respect of any period of sickness or injury during an assignment. If you have accepted an offer of work but are subsequently unable to work the hours agreed, you must notify your line manager or, if unavailable, our main reception of the reason for your absence as soon as possible but no later than 9.00 am on the first day of absence.

Notice: As a casual worker I accept that this agreement can be terminated at any time without notice by either myself or by Age UK Exeter.
