REPORT
The goals of Alberta Ballet are to preserve the traditions of classical ballet while promoting its development through the creation of contemporary works; to meet international standards of excellence; to foster and promote the work of Canadian choreographers, dancers, composers, and designers; to encourage and facilitate the study of and participation in ballet; to be professionally staffed and managed, and to govern operations through financially judicious management which will not produce and accumulated deficit. The goals of this Organization are to provide musical training to members through a positive, fun, and quality choral and/or handbell experience for a reasonable fee; to provide members with multiple performance opportunities, including choreographed production; to provide joy to those less fortunate who otherwise may not have the opportunity to attend live performances; to perform various types of music including works by a resident composer, and to perform 20th century Canadian music including works by resident composer Ann Nichols. The jury recommends the grant request which ia an increase to the grant received in 2004.

This organization exists to: serve the culture and heritage of the City of Edmonton, the Province of Alberta and Canada by bringing forward public awareness and enjoyment of the voices of Canadian and international composers, and to encourage and support the composition, performance, recording, knowledge and awareness of contemporaty concert music for our member composers and local national international and participating audiences. This is the first time this organization has applied in a number of years.
