Getting There:
From Interstate 5 going north towards Frazier Park, exit Frazier Mtn Park Rd and turn left (west) and go 1.8 miles to an intersection. Continue straight on Cuddy Valley Rd (9N05) which becomes Mill Portero Hwy for 13.4 miles to Condor Campground sign. Turn left onto Cerro Noroeste Rd (9N25) and go 7.8 miles to the campground.

Introduction:
Campo Alto means “High Camp” and that’s just what it is! The camp is set at 8¸200 feet at the edge of the Chumas Wilderness area and meanders around the top of Cerro Noroeste¸ also called Mt. Abel¸ through a stand of large Ponderosa pine and has beautiful views of the coastal range below with spectacular vistas. Condor sightings are possible from campground.
There is a trail head just half a mile away where you can hike to Grouse Mountain ¸ or further into remote Sheep Camp. There are also other hiking trails nearby as well as plenty of geocaching and exploring in the area¸ and nearby Fort Tejon State Park. For the off roading folks¸ there is the nearby Gorman OHV area.
Campsite Amenities:
There are 15 first come first serve sites that are large and widely spaced providing ample privacy. Fire pits, tables, and vault toilets are provided. There is NO WATER so be sure to bring plenty of your own.
There are no fees to camp, but you will need an Adventure Pass which can be purchased at any sporting goods store for $5 per day or $30 per year.
Please keep pets on a leash in the campground.
The campground is accessible to all vehicles and RVs up to 30 feet.
Elevation is 8,200 feet.

Hiking, exploring, geocaching, off roading, and visit to nearby Fort Tejon State Park.
