Javed Kureishi Has Been Elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of Citibank a.s.
Prague – The Board of Directors of Citibank a.s. elected yesterday (that is, on April 3) as its Chairman Mr. Javed Kureishi, who, since July of 2005, has been holding a post of Citibank a.s.‘ Managing Director and, at the same time, Business Head of Citibank Corporate and Investment Banking Division in the Czech Republic.
Javed Kureishi began his career at Citigroup in March1985, when he joined the Credit Department of Citibank in Karachi, Pakistan. Javed had several roles in Karachi before being appointed Corporate Bank Head in August 1994. In 2000, he relocated to Cairo as Corporate Bank Head, Egypt and three years later Javed transferred to Johannesburg as Division Risk Manager for Citigroup in Africa. In May 2004, he returned to Egypt as Head of Citigroup’s Corporate and Investment Bank where he has spent the last year. In July 2005, he became Citibank a.s.‘ Managing Director and, at the same time, Business Head of Citibank Corporate and Investment Banking Division in the Czech Republic.
Currently, the Board of Directors of Citibank a.s. works in the following make-up: Chairman of the Board of Directors - Javed Kureishi, Members of the Board of Directors – Petr Hejduk, František Máslo, Michal Nebeský and Bert Pijls.
