Please call ahead to arrange a drop off time. Place each entry in a SEPARATE CLEAR OR WHITE PLASTIC BAG that does not need to be returned. WSQ-SC does not provide insurance. WE WILL LABEL THE BAG and you will be given a receipt for your quilt at this time. You will need this receipt when you pick up your quilt after the show on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, between 6:00-7:00 pm at the fairgrounds.

Fill in the name of your quilt and state the accurate size in whole inches. If your quilt grows as you work on it, please contact Molly Destefano; we will make every effort to give your quilt a larger space but cannot guarantee that we will be able to do so, particularly if your quilt requires a 10’ space.

Most categories are self-explanatory, but here are some guidelines that may be useful to you:

  • Hand vs. Machine Quilting: A quilt entered in the “hand quilting” category needs to be entirely hand quilted; if it is partially hand quilted and machine quilted, it should be entered into the “machine quilted” category.
  • Fabric Art Quilt: Must beentirely original in design. No commercial patterns, kits, or adaptations of a published pattern. You may begin with traditional blocks and change them to create something new and original. Can be made by one person and quilted by another. The total of all four sides must be less than 210”. Some art quilts may require special handling care. Contact Mari Haworth at 509-443-2319 if you have any questions.
  • Combined: This just means that the quilt has both piecing and appliqué and that both are equally important.
  • Machine Embroidered: Any embroidered or appliqué design done using an embroidery machine.
  • Machine Quilted, Pieced, Duo: Made by one person and machine quilted by another.
  • Machine Quilted, Pieced, Solo: Made and machine quilted by one person.
  • Wall Hanging categories:Small wall hanging–all 4 sides must total 126” or less.

Large wall hanging –all 4 sides must total more than 126” but less than 210.”

  • Novelty: does not fit neatly in another category, like hand embroidered, yo-yo, T-shirt, tied or whole cloth quilts.
  • Round Robin, Group, Raffle Quilts: One quilt made by three or more people.
  • Small Quilted/Home Décor Items: Small quilted items such as: table runners, pillows, etc.
  • Wearable Art: Items of clothing that are layered, pieced and/or quilted.
  • WSQ Challenge: Quilt circumference as given in instructions. Please note in description if Challenge is a “Pun.”
  • INMQ Challenge: Quilt challenge limited to INMQ Members only.

WSQ Ribbons will be placed on the top 3 winning entries in each category before the show opens on Sunday.

INMQ will award one ribbon per category for Excellence in Machine Quilting; they will also award one ribbon for Best of Show in Machine Quilting.
