Present project title:

Late Holocene climate records from western Himalaya using high resolution tree-ring data

Research interests and Experience:

·  Research interest includes the palaeoclimatic reconstructions based on tree-ring data from diversified geographical regions of western Himalayas. Main emphasis is given to document the impact of various natural or anthropogenic pressures on climate variability.

·  Research experience includes Permian and Carboniferous palynoflora and mega fossil studies from Spiti region, western Himalaya.

Field Experience:

·  For collection of tree ring samples visited several remote areas of Himachal Pradesh in Western Himalaya, and Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh in Eastern Himalaya for one to two months long field trips since 2005.

·  For collection of mega fossils and palynological samples visited several localities of Spiti and Kinnaur Himalayan region.

·  Bore hole and surface samples were collected from the sites near Bhoopalpalli, Warngal, Andhra Pradeh.

·  A field work was undertaken with the basic aim of to reestablishment the stratigraphy of the Gondwana sequences in central India.
