Introduction to Wildlife Management

Course Description:

This course precedes the high school Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources courses. This course allows students to develop knowledge and skills in relation to wildlife and ecology management. Students will get to explore multiple competencies related to animal science through this course, and will come out with basic knowledge and understanding of hunting safety, ethics and wildlife management strategies.

** Hunter Education Certification – Certification can be earned through this course. We will spend approximately 6 weeks going over the necessary materials for the exam. After we have completed the classroom instruction for the exam, a time will be scheduled for any students wanting to get their certification. This time is most likely to be in the evening on a Monday (before \ MWFFA meeting).

Supplies:

  • Pens & Pencils
  • Students will be given a manila file folder to keep any work or notebooks in for my class.
  • Paper… students can either keep loose leaf paper in a binder or use a spiral notebook. I please ask that they not use a composition notebook as it is difficult to keep them neat when tearing pages out to turn in.

Classroom Expectations:

  1. RESPECT. EVERYONE, ALL of the time, NO EXCEPTIONS.
  2. Strive for Excellence in EVERYTHING that you do!
  3. Cell phones, iPads, laptops, etc… are only permitted during class time IF instructed to use it. If I see it when it is not required, I will take it up.
  4. Everyone must complete ALL work that is assigned. Taking ownership of you assignments & learning is EXPECTED.
  5. EVERYONE must help with maintaining order of the room.
  6. No outside food is allowed in the classroom, unless approved or medically permitted. You are allowed to have WATER.
  7. Do not be late or out of dress code. This is a school expectation that I will uphold in my classroom.
  8. Leaving the classroom during class will be on a student to student basis.

Late, Missing or Incomplete work

  • Late work is defined as not being submitted on the day that it is due, as assigned by the teacher. Work will be accepted until the end of the school day at 2:35.
  • Work that is turned in Incomplete, without an excuse, will be graded as-is
  • Students may submit late work up until the end of the grading period, work will be graded as-is and will be docked the full amount of the grade that is allowed per Magnolia JH policy.

Discipline:

Students who break any classroom rules or demonstrate excessive disruptive behavior will initially be given a warning and if the behavior persists a parent will be contacted.
