BURN PERMIT

May 1 through September 30

IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAWS AND REGULATIONS OF THE STATE OF ALASKA, THE UNDERSIGNED IS HEREBY GRANTED PERMISSION TO CONDUCT A CONTROLLED BURN.

One pile not to exceed 5 square feet in diameter or 3 feet high, consisting of the following materials:

This controlled burn will take place within the City of Whittier on private property located at:

This burn is authorized subject to the following terms and conditions:

1. No flammable or combustible liquids within 50 feet of burn.

2. Construction of a firebreak 15 feet wide of non-combustible material (dirt, gravel, sand, etc.) before burn begins.

3. The presence of at least one person continuously during the burn period.

4. Burning will not start or will be discontinued during periods of high winds.

5. Burns will be conducted during the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

6. Sufficient tools, water, equipment and personnel to control the fire will be present at the burn site during the burn.

This permit is issued under the authority of AS 41.150.050 and AS 41.15.060 of the Public Resource Statutes governing the establishment of fire seasons and regulation of burning permits. This permit may be modified, suspended or revoked at any time.

The permitee shall have this permit in the possession of the person at the burn site at all times during the burn and display it upon demand to any authorized City of Whittier employee.

Permittee agrees to hold the City of Whittier harmless from any claim or damage caused by the permitted fire or resulting suppression activity or by any negligent acts or omission by permitee or his representative arising during or as a result of activities covered by the permit.

WILLFUL OR NEGLIGENT DISREGARD OF THE TERMS OR CONDITIONS OF THIS PERMIT CONSTITUTES AN ILLEGAL ACT AND MAKES THE PERMITEE AND HIS AGENT CRIMINALLY LIABLE. THIS PERMIT DOES NOT RELIEVE THE PERMITEE FROM RESPONSIBILITY FOR FIRE DAMAGE OR THE COST OF EXTINGUISHING FIRE IN VIOLATION OF THIS PERMIT.
