Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium is an allocation of additional funding provided to schools to support specific groups of children who are entitled to receive free school meals,are looked after children or who have parents in the military. All schools are required to report on the amount of funding received and how this is being used. Pupil Premium is monitored closely and we utilise the funding to ensure high quality provision.

Provision 2016-2017

5.8% of pupils are eligible.

For the financial year 2016-17 Saltwood School has received £21, 300in Pupil Premium funding. The range of provision this academic year will include the following:

  • Focused teaching assistant support in class
  • Short-term intervention programmes for underachieving pupils who need a boost to their learning in order to reach their potential
  • Identification of barriers to learning through pupil mentoring and implementation of support strategies
  • Welfare support, for example through social skills groups and counselling
  • Providing fundingfor extracurricular activities that will support well-being and development of learning, for example school trips and music lessons

For the financial year 2015-16 Saltwood School received £24, 669in Pupil Premium funding. 6.7% of pupils were eligible. This was used as follows:

  • To provide teaching assistant support in class
  • To provide short-term intervention programmes for underachieving pupils who need a boost to their learning in order to reach their potential
  • To provide 1-1 and small group tuition sessions, closely linked to classwork
  • To provide welfare support, for example through social skills groups and behaviour development sports sessions
  • To provide funds for extracurricular activities that will support well-being and development of learning, for example school trips and music lessons
