INDIANAPOLIS – TheNationalFestivalChoirwillperforminconcertat 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17 atHilbertCircleTheatre, featuring 400 studentsfromacrosstheUnitedStates, aspartofthepremiereMusicforAllNationalChoirFestival. StudentchoralensemblesfromacrossthecountrywilljoinvoicesinIndianapolisforthe 27thAnnualMusicforAllNationalFestival, presentedbyYamaha.

MusicforAllcelebratesthePremiereNationalChoirFestivalwiththisspecialhonorsconcert. FivehundredvoiceswilljointogetherfromelevenhighschoolsfromNewYork, Maryland, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, andColorado, oneJr. HighSchoolChoirfromTexas, andtwoyouthchoirsfromIndianapolisChildren’sChoirBelCantoandBellaVoce.

TheNationalChoirFestivalconcertwillbebook-endedbyourTrebleandMixedMassChoirsunderthedirectionofMusicforAllChoralArtisticDirector, HenryLeck, founderandconductorlaureateoftheIndianapolisChildren’sChoir; andGuestConductor, Dr. RolloDilworth, ProfessorofChoralMusicEducationatTempleUniversity.NewchoralworkshavebeenwrittenforthePremiereNationalChoirFestival; RichardSaucedo’sarrangementoftheStarSpangledBannerwillkick-offtheconcert, andArtisticDirector, HenryLeck’sWeBelieveinMusicwillbringtheconcerttoarousingclose.AdditionalrepertoirewillincludethreeDilworthcompositions:Freedom’sPlow, GreatCampMeeting, andISingBecauseI’mHappy,twooriginalcompositionsbyJimPapoulis, andMovements 6 7 ofDanForrest’sJubilateDeo.

ThemasschoirwillbeaccompaniedbytheBallStateUniversityorchestra, directedbyDougDroste. NOTUS, fromI.U. underthedirectionofDominicDiOrio, andEthos, anacappellachoirfromWrightStateUniversity, directedbyBrodyMcDonaldwillalsobefeatured.

ThisyearmarksthepremiereoftheNationalChoirFestivalaspartoftheMusicforAllNationalFestival. Withthisaddition, MusicforAllnowencompassesallthemajorpillarsofatraditionalschoolmusicprogram.Twelvechoirsfromacrossthenationinvitedbyblindauditionwilldebutchoralperformance.
