INDICATIONS: Parathyroid pathology

PATIENT PREP: NPO for solid foods, water only, for 4 hours prior to scan

IV CONTRAST: With: 80mL Isovue 370 @ 3.0 mL/second

WithOut: None

ORAL CONTRAST: None

POSITIONING: Head First Supine, Arms by sides

TOPOGRAMS: AP. Angle of mandible to carina. 35 mA, 120 kV.

Lateral. Angle of mandible to carina. 35 mA, 120 kV

SCAN TYPE: Spiral/Helical

NOTES: Adjust delay on Venous scan to be performed at 70 seconds

ALARA – Keep radiation dose As Low As Reasonably Achievable.
