Victorian Canoe Polo

Spring 2012 Season

Dear Players,

Welcome to Canoe Polo for the Spring 2012 Season.

Please note the following updates:

  • Teams are required to nominate a referee and assistant referee who will have primary responsibility for fulfilling the teams refereeing duties (nominated referees should review the online refereeing course to ensure that their knowledge of the rules is up to date and sessions may be run throughout the season to assist new referees);
  • The team contact is the representative for a team if the team or any team member is required to attend a Tribunal hearing in relation to the teams, or a players, conduct; and
  • Rules requiring that players wear helmets of the same colour will not be enforced.

Important Dates/Entry Details:

  • Deadline for Early Bird entry fee of $700 per team: 8 June 2012
  • Deadline for Std Entry Fee of $780 per team: 15 June 2012
  • Season start Date: 26 June 2012
  • Season Finals: 16 September 2012

Team fees are to be paid as a lump sum only.

All team entry forms should be accompanied by full payment (or proof of payment), and will not be accepted if payment is not received with the entry form. For payments submitted electronically, please write the team name in the description field of the funds transfer.

Due to the lateness of payments in the past, and the amount of time spent chasing teams, please be aware we will be far firmer on the deadlines for payments this season. Team will be requested to cease playing until the team fees are payed, unless prior arrangement has been made.

Entry forms will only be accepted having a minimum of five players with full details, and all players must be registered members of Australian Canoeing. AC memberships expire on 30th June each year, so all players will need to ensure their AC memberships are renewed on time. Any team that fields non AC members will forfeit premiership points, and players who are not current members will be requested to leave the water.

Check online at regularly for updates and the draw. It is the responsibility of the team contact to check the draw online and notify team mates of any changes. TEAMS WILL NOT BE INDIVIDUALLY CONTACTED.

As per ICF rules, ALL grades must have covered shoulders (eg. rash vest or t-shirt) whilst playing. Any player without sleeves will be deemed to not be in uniform, and goal penalties will apply.

Gear Hire

For individuals needing to hire gear, you will need to pay the gear hire fees separately. Preferred method of payment is up-front via direct transfer to Victorian Canoe Polo (banking details below, page 2). Please ensure your name is attached to the transfer and retain a receipt.

Volunteers

As usual, we need volunteers to help organise the Melbourne Canoe Polo Competition. The more volunteers we have, the less work there is for everyone. Any assistance you can give would be gratefully received.

Thanks, and looking forward to seeing you on the water.
