Outcome 1

Evidence requirements

1.1Processing details are interpreted from company production information.

Rangedetails include but are not limited to – batch identification, substance and quality, leather type, number of hides, processing instructions, comments, and special requirements.

1.2Production planning priorities are identified in terms of company and customer requirements.

1.3Departures from company specifications are checked and authorised in accordance with company requirements.

1.4The completion of lead-in production processes is checked against production information and confirmed before processing commences.

Segment and trim split leather.

Evidence requirements

2.1Split leather is segmented and trimmed in accordance with processing requirements and company specifications.

2.2Segmenting and trimming provides maximum usable leather area of uniform substance.

2.3Leather trimmings are weighed, handled, and removed in accordance with company specifications.

2.4Knife maintenance, use, and safety meet company specifications.

2.5Segmented and trimmed leather is presented, stacked, and transferred to the next stage of processing in accordance with company specifications.

2.6Process control checks and documentation are completed in accordance with company specifications.

Describe the effects of incorrect leather segmenting and trimming.

Evidence requirements

3.1The effects of incorrect leather segmenting and trimming are described in terms of cost to a tannery.

Rangeeffects include but are not limited to – damage, requirements for rework, customer dissatisfaction, financial loss.

Outcome 4

Describe processing stages preceding and following leather segmenting and trimming.

Rangedescriptions include but are not limited to – key processing steps, production outcomes, quality outcomes, effects of non-conformance.

4.1Production requirements of the preceding processing stages are described in accordance with company specifications.

4.2Production requirements of the following processing stages are described in accordance with company specifications.

Outcome 5

Demonstrate team-work.

Evidence requirements

5.1The quality and completeness of tasks meet the operational requirements of downstream co-workers.

5.2Communication and feedback are provided to and requested from co-workers to maintain and improve task and product quality.

5.3Co-workers are not endangered through the operator's methods and equipment.

5.4Assistance is provided to co-workers within the confines of product flow and operator availability.

5.5Machinery, equipment, and facility malfunctions, and product non-conformance problems are identified and reported in accordance with company requirements.

5.6Conflict resolution techniques are applied to minimise interpersonal differences with co-workers that may adversely affect team performance.

Outcome 6

Comply with company and statutory health, safety, and environment requirements.

Evidence requirements

6.1Company-supplied clothing, and hygiene and safety equipment and materials, are worn and used in accordance with company and statutory requirements.

6.2Work methods comply with company and statutory requirements to minimise the risk of ill-health and injuries to the operator and others.

6.3Unsafe and unhealthy conditions are identified and reported in accordance with company and statutory requirements.

6.4Cleanliness of equipment, operator, and work area complies with company specifications.

6.5Waste disposal meets company safety and environmental requirements.
