Linglestown Middle School

7th Grade World History

August 25, 2014

Dear Parents and Guardians,

My name is Mr. Hetrick and I would like to take this time to introduce myself as one of the 7th grade world history teachers at Linglestown Middle School.I am a Millersville University graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary social studies education.I additionally completed coursework at Saint Joseph’s University in 2013 where I earned certification in special education.Last year was my first year teaching at Linglestown Middle School as a 7th grade teacher on the Rams Team.Prior to joining the Central Dauphin School District, I taught for three school years as a part-time social studies instructor in the Pottsgrove School District.I am very excited at the opportunity to work with your child this school year as a member of the Linglestown Middle School community.

I have very high expectations for all students in my classroom. Students will be held accountable for their own behavior. Each student will be expected to follow the Central Dauphin School District discipline standards. Students are expected to come to class each day prepared to learn with all required materials including a pencil, 3-ring binder, and notebook. It is very important to inspire the sense of responsibility in each student for their education. It is my goal to prepare my students to be lifelong learners equipped to handle the challenges of the twenty-first century.

Students will be discussing issues pertaining to ancient world cultures including Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, and the Middle Ages this school year. We intend to discover aspects of world history geared towards the specific curriculum of the 7th grade course. I am eager to share my passion for social studies with your student this school year. Please be sure to read the classroom guidelines with your child. Thank you and feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns this year. I look forward to meeting you at the LMS Back to School Night in September.

Sincerely,

Mr. Hetrick
