Kiwanis Board of Directors Meeting Minutes December 4, 2007

The Kiwanis Club of Downers Grove Board of Directors Meeting was called to order by President Gretchen Sauer. Board members present were Treasurer Curt Frank; Directors: Bob Jacobs, Boneta Morris, Phyllis Smith, Doyle Heimann, Lorie Pilster, Secretary Waring Webb, Alex Palowicz and Paul Jarosz..

Minutes Minutes from the November 6 meeting were approved.

Treasurer November treasurer’s report approved as presented. Curt sent past due notes to several delinquent members.

Committee Reports:

Finance: Paul reported on the Delta Sonic car wash promotion. We ordered 80 tickets (5 per member) to be sold by December 31. These are great stocking stuffers!

Membership: Waring proposed a membership meeting in January to invite prospective new members.

Community Service: Paul confirmed that Sharing Connection, Love Inc. and Walk in Ministry are in our budget and will be supported. We received a letter from Sharing Connection. Waring will have FISH Christmas gift list at meeting tomorrow. The Kiwanis One Day Project is April 5th. We will plan a project at Senior Home Sharing in DG.

Youth Services: Paul went to the DG Community Grant Meeting and presented our request for the 2008 Easter Egg Hunt for $700.00. He also distributed some membership brochures.

Sponsored Youth: Gretchen reported that the Key Club is sponsoring a Christmas gift tree. Boneta will check with O'Niel about status of our Builders Club. Herrick is not current but is using the Builders Club name.

Young Children Priority One: No Report

Human and Spiritual Values: NR

Meetings: Dec 12 will be Roy Brown from the DG Moose Lodge about the Moose and their very successful new member recruitment. We will not meet December 26

Inter-Clubs: December InterClub will be Wheaton. November was Woodridge.

Other Business: We have request for our annual gift to Kiwanis International Foundation. Budget is $250.00. Minimum donation is $5.00 per member. Curt suggested that we donate $105. Now and use balance for KIF honoring plaque. We will also send $75.00 to Circle K.

Bowl-a-thon will be February 2.

Chamber Non-Profit meetings Tuesday 12/18 and 1/15 at 8:30AM. Volunteers?

Our Holiday Party in January, date and place TBD.

Note: Lisa Rasin had surgery on her forehead for a basil cell and is recovering.
