Nasheia Conway, Esq. Scholarship for Young Mothers

Nasheia Conway is a 2008 graduate of Friendship Collegiate Academy in Washington, D.C. After overcoming many challenges as a low-income inner city youth raised by a single mom, Nasheia persisted to enroll and graduate from college. Seven months before her college graduation, Nasheia faced the tragic loss of her mother. Despite the devastation, she went on to pursue a career as an attorney. Nasheia received a full scholarship to law school. Shortly after enrolling in law school, Nasheia became a single mom. She persisted to juggle the demands of law school with parenting and ultimately graduated from law school. Her journey did not end. While other students paid took hiatuses from work to study for their Bar examinations, Nasheia had to work to support her daughter. Raising a toddler while working significantly affected her ability to study for the bar examination. As a result, Nasheia did not pass the bar exam on her first try. She continued to study, work, and raise her daughter despite this setback. In 2016, Nasheia passed her bar exam and instantly landed a position in the State Attorney's office.

Nasheia recognizes the struggle of following your dreams and chasing after success while defying the odd. She believes that students can overcome any setback as long as they have a plan, arecommitted to their plan and possess a strong work ethic.
