THE BOYS' BRIGADE
EDINBURGH, LEITH AND DISTRICT BATTALION
JUNIOR SECTION SWIMMING EVENT
SATURDAY 28th NOVEMBER 2015 at LEITH ACADEMY
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.
Boys not at the Assembly Point when required (see programme) will miss their event.
PROCEDURE
1. The Officer in Charge of the Section should report the Section's arrival to the registration table no later than 4pm. Any alterations to the Section's entry should be advised at that time (but see Substitutes).
2. On admission, the Officer in Charge will be shown the location of the cubicles. Boys should then change and assemble with their Officers OUTSIDE THE CHANGING CUBICLES.
3. The time at which Boys should be at the assembly point will be advised by an announcement and by displaying a large notice at the Assembly point end of the pond. Officers should ensure that Boys are sent along in good time.
4. Please ensure adults in charge of Boys are familiar with the procedure. The Gala will not be delayed for Boys missing from the assembly area when their names are called.
5. Boys must stay in the water until race finishes i.e when all competitors have finished swimming, and are thereafter told to leave the pool.
6. A Boy must be of the correct age for the event for which he is entered.
HEAT WINNERS
The winners of the heats should report to the scorer’s table which will be at deep end of the pool. They will be given a card indicating the event number of their final. They should return to the Assembly Point and give the card to the organisers when requested.
‘B’ FINALS
To facilitate as many boys as possible getting more races we will hold ‘B’ Finals for those boys who did not qualify the main final. Obviously the entry numbers will dictate the final format of this, which will decided an announced on the day. ‘B Finalist winners will NOT be awarded medals
SCORING
With the view to making more competitors inclusive to overall result of the Team Trophy, we will for the first time introduce a scoring system which facilitates the ‘B’ Finalists contributing to the final result. The scoring format will depend on the number of entries, and will be circulated once the entries are known.
SUBSTITUTES
Due to the restriction of P4 and P5 boys being able to enter one individual event only substitutes will be allowed. However:
· They must be the correct age for the event into which they are substituted ie. a younger or older Boy may not be a substitute.
· There will be no substitutes allowed in the P6 age group.
· Where possible, the substitutions should be notified to Brian Nisbet, 0131 442 1109, before the day of the Gala or by 11.00am in the case of unavoidable last minute alterations.
· A Boy cannot swim in the relay unless he has already swum in an event.
QUERIES
Should an Officer wish to query any decision, the Officer in Charge of the Section should go to the results table immediately.
UNIFORM
Uniform will not be worn by Officers or Boys.
DISCIPLINE
Officers must keep Boys in control at all times. A good standard must be maintained if the event is to proceed smoothly. Officers should therefore maintain full control of the Boys in their charge.
CLOTHING AND VALUABLES
The Baths Officials and the Battalion are NOT responsible for any loss of clothing or valuables belonging to either Boys or Officers.
LEADERS / HELPERS
Each Company attending will provide at least one leader / parent helper to assist with the officiating roles of the event.
