Preface

This form contains the necessary information to be provided by entities interested in importing Natural Gas to the Egyptian Gas Market.

Definition

  1. Applicant:means the entity having the intension to import natural gas quantities to the Egyptian market. This entity will be required to enter into contracts with both, gas supplier(s) to purchase quantities of gas/LNG that is not locally produced, and Gas Consumers(s) that will buy this quantity of gas for local consumption.
  1. Source of Gas: country where importing the gas to the Egyptian local market.
  1. Gas Consumer: Local gas consumer(s) with whom the Gas Importer will enter into a gas sales contract. Local gas consumer could be either a consumer that already has an existing supply contract with EGAS/Local Distribution Company or a new consumer.
  1. LNG: Liquefied Natural Gas
  1. DCQ: Daily contracted Natural Gas quantities
  1. Send-out rate: The rate by which a Floating Storage Re-gasification Unit (FSRU) will deliver re-gasified imported gas to the National Gas Grid

  1. Gas Specification

The acceptable gas specification to the National Gas Grid shall be as follows:

Spec / Maximum limits
O2 % / 0.01%
CO2 % / 3.0%
H2S % / 4 ppm
Total Sulphur per standard cubic meter / 30 milligrams/scm
with average mercaptans / 7 milligrams of total sulphur/scm
Water dew point / Less than -5 oC
Mercury / 3000 nanograms/scm
Form no hydrocarbon condensates above zero degrees Celsius at any pressure below the delivery pressure
Have a Gross Calorific Value of not less than (1040) BTU per SCF

Further Information to be submitted

  1. Previous relevant experience of Gas Importer, if any.
  2. Imported Gas specification (contaminants), if available.

Notes:

  1. Upon EGAS acceptance for the Applicant request, the Applicant shall be responsible for all further required approvals and the relevant expenses including (customs/regasification/transportation/….etc) to the concerned entities.
  2. The Egyptian Laws shall apply to subsequent agreements.
  3. Soft copy of this Information Form is available for download on EGAS’s official website (
  4. Upon completion, a signed hardcopy of this application shall be submitted to EGAS’Contracts Department starting the 1st of July 2015.
