  7. You are like a mythical beast, a mighty Pegasus, the winged horse of great speed and courage. Like that stallion, you will fly fearless into the battle. You will most certainly face terrible foes, but you will not be beaten. Neigh! You will be victorious!

  12. “Five Reasons” article. Read and annotate.
  13. Annotations. Making notes. Helps you to think critically. Good reading involves meditation. Talking to text.
  14. Talk about the article. Summarize as a group. What thoughts do you agree/disagree with and, most importantly, why do you feel that way?
  15. Talk about your ability as a writer. Be specific about your strengths and weaknesses. If you think you have no strengths, then speak about what you admire/appreciate about strong writers.
  16. Talk about one (or some) of your greatest fears as a writer. Do not simply respond “having to do it”.
  17. Homework: Bring your novel tomorrow for approval.

11th Writing Assignment 1: Importance of Writing

Writing Situation: Writing is not the most popular exercise for students. However, experts have shown that there are multiple benefits to writing daily.

Writing Directions: After reading and annotating the article Five Reasons Why Students Should Write Daily, develop an essay in which you explain 2 reasons FROM THE ARTICLE (of the 5 reasons mentioned) why the author believes writing is beneficial. Fully elaborate on your ideas. Use quotations from the text in your work. Your work must include all 6 parts of an essay.

W2—Write informative/explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas, concepts, and information clearly and accurately through the effective selection, organization, and analysis of content

  1. Introduce a topic; organize complex ideas, concepts, and information so that each new element builds on that which precedes it to create a unified whole
