Stress Tips for Men

Exercise!

Men respond well to releasing stress and tension by exercising, whether it be football, running, hitting the gym – anything that gets your blood flowing and heart pumping will impact on your stress levels!

Hang out with your friends

Spending time with friends such as over a game golf, football, or even a drink in your local pub can help men especially unwind and escape daily stress.

Enjoy time alone

Men can de-stress while enjoying tasks they can do in solitary.

For example, photography, hiking, driving all can help relax and empower to feel in control again.

Communicate

Most men find it difficult to communicate their feelings, especially if they are feeling stressed and not able to meet their demands. But focussing on what you can change, and letting those in your life know how you feel, can ultimately impact on your ability to function.

Stress Tips for Women

Eat well

Developing a healthy lifestyle and getting enough sleep can have a huge impact on your stress levels. For example, eating breakfast first thing in the morning following fruit in your handbag for snacks throughout the day will help you avoid sugar dips and need for high calorie snacks.

Say ‘no’ more often

Women are usually very good at multitasking, which often makes it difficult for them to know when they’ve reached their limit. If this sounds familiar, practise saying ‘no’ and allow yourself time to do your tasks effectively and with more energy.

Delegate!

Women are usually very good at being the ‘glue that holds the family together’. But does that mean they have to do everything such as cleaning, shopping, running errands? Consider delegating and giving responsibility to others, and also accept they may do it differently to you!

Don’t forget YOU!

Busy family lives can leave no time for mums to unwind, and very often other family members don’t notice when everything becomes too much. But don’t forget, you are as important as your family, so take time to unwind, enjoy a hot bath, have time to yourself when you can and all will help you re-charge.
