1.  INTRODUCTION

Good morning, I would like to share with you a film called the Pursuit of Happiness.

It tells the true story of Chris Gardner, an Afro-American, who goes through various stages of his

life in the 80s in San Francisco, USA. Being the father and husband, Chris faces many problems.

But he overcomes them one by one.

2.  OVERVIEW

Chris Gardner (played by Will Smith) is a young salesman who earns his living and supports his family by selling medical scanners. But he earns little money and cannot afford to pay the rent and food. He just has enough money to send his son Christopher (his real son Jaden Smith) to a day care. His wife, Linda (Thandie Newton) left him because she thinks that Chris is not a good husband. Both the father and son have to stick together and survive all sorts of hardship. But Chris

never gives up and comes top of the class in the stockbroker training course. Then he works his way up and becomes a very successful multimillionaire stockbroker in America.

3.  AFTERTHOUGHTS

The Pursuit of Happiness is a very touching movie. I am most impressed by the strong determination and courage shown by the main actor. He tries his best to overcome all the problems he encounters in life. The scene I am most impressed with was the one when both

Chris and his son have to stay overnight in a public toilet. While his son was sleeping, he had to study for his test in the dark using his torchlight. I think Chris is a good husband and father because he does everything for the love of his son and wife. He does not blame his wife, even though she left him.

After watching the film, I learn that we should never give up when we encounter any problem or hardship. After all, life is not meant to be easy, it is how you make of it.

In brief, the Pursuit of Happiness is a film not to be missed.

Thank you.
