  1. First Aid Kits (Ray Sacks)

Many clubs and societies appear to be running low on items for their first aid kits. Next week I will place a big order on all items that need stocking up so if everyone could check their first aid kits and email me () detailing the items you require, I can place a large order and this will save on shipping costs.

Does every sports club have to have a first aid kit?

From the SU point of view no, but to play in some leagues you have to, otherwise you can get points deducted.

The first aid kits, along with any other safety equipment, is provided to your club/society by the SU and does not come out of your subs, so please let me know if you do not have one and do require one.

An email will be sent out when the items have arrived.

  1. Technical Officers

As much as we really want to help you all, we need to have notice. It is no good emailing at 11pm at night asking for help or equipment for the next day. We are asking for a minimum of 48hours notice, and if it is less than that then we are likely to have to say we can’t help.

Also if you borrow equipment from us, then we will give you some information on how to use it. If you do not use it according to the instructions or it is damaged in any which way, you club/society will be liable for the cost of repairs. If you have any further questions regarding fines then please see Ray Sacks (VP Finance and Student Activities).

  1. Club & Society Handbook

We are planning on creating a clubs and society handbook, which will be a how-to guide. It will include information on:

FINANCES

  • Subs
  • Budgets
  • Purchases
  • Claiming money back

EXTERNAL SPEAKERS

  • No platform policy
  • SGUL freedom of speech policy

CONSTITUTIONS

  • What makes a constitution unconstitutional?
  • Model constitution

ELECTIONS

  • What is a fair election?
  • How do we do this?
  • Examples of best practice

SIT suggested having a section on Technical support.

  1. SU Store Room

The Students’ Union are planning on auditing this space in the near future. We understand that lots of people what space in there, but it will take some time to organise to please bear with us. We will be conducting a survey of the space and consider fair usage.

  1. Dates

Proposal by RM: The next scheduled SGSU Council is on the 9th November (only two weeks away) and it is unnecessary to have another meeting so soon, so I suggest that we cancel that meeting and arrange our next SGSU meeting on Tuesday 7th December 2010.

Seconded: Catherine Leng (Rock Monkeys)

PASSED by simple majority vote.

Date of next SGSU Council – Tuesday 7th December 2010
