Weekly Newsletter Thursday 26th January 2017
Dear Parents,
Mrs Skarp
We would like to inform you that Mrs Skarp will be leaving us at the end of this term. We would like to thank her for all her hard work and wish her well for the future.
SCPS and the Safer Internet –please note change of date to Tuesday 7thFebruary 6.30pm
Please join us for a discussion, led by our hand-picked teenage panel, on their experiences, joys, frustrations and fears of using the Internet and social media as they progress through secondary school. The event is open to all parents, and we would like to encourage Year 5 and Year 6 children to attend as well. Learn more about how Instagram has emerged as a major communication tool, which apps and websites are currently in vogue, and how they see their electronic social and work lives developing. We will let you know how we keep your children safe at school – please be prepared to share your experiences of keeping them safe at home. We look forward to seeing you. Dr Loader and Mrs Rae.
Sportshall Athletics
The athletics team from Year 5/6 competed at the Sportshall Athletics competition at Chiltern Edge on Friday 20th January. We took 42 children in total, split into 2 teams, all of whom had had to earn their place on the team through time/distancetrials. Overall we finished clear winners inthe B Team competition and joint winners, with Kidmore End, in the main competition. This means that we qualify for the South Oxfordshire finals on Feb 27th at Icknield College in Watlington. Well done to all of our athletes.

PTA Funding
A big thank you to thePTA for very kindly funding the purchase oftwo, much-needed,scooterracks. Hopefully everyscooterwill now have a parking space.
The PTA has also helped to improve the appearance of the school environment and has paid for the smart, larchsleepers to be installed under the tree between the Infant and Junior blocks. The project will be finished off with a sprinkling of grass seed in the Spring. This is not a play item so please discourage the children from walking along the sleepers.

Please docome and talk to your child's class teacher if you would like to be involved or know anyone who could contribute.
Happy News
Kites - We have enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year and why this year is the year of the Rooster. We also had a visit from the Canal and River Trust who taught us about water safety, leaving us with the message to "stay away from the edge!"
