Mr Ford stated that he believed the gelding had choked down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed symptoms consistent with choking down. Connections have been advised that FOREVER ARMA NZ has been stood down from racing for a period of 10 days and until the completion of a satisfactory trial.
Stewards queried drivers Braden Howlett (STAREESHAR) and Dylan Ford (FOREVER ARMA NZ) in relation to their tactics in this event. After a lead time of 50.9, 1.7 quicker than average, STAREESHAR tired over the concluding stages. FOREVER ARMA NZ choked down and was pulled up. Whilst having reservations about the tactics adopted by both drivers, stewards could not be satisfied to the required standard that charges could be sustained.
Prior to the all-clear being given driver Taylor Ford (ODINS CALL GIRL) asked to view the films of the event. After viewing an incident which occurred racing to the 600 metres Miss Ford lodged a protest against TOUCHWOOD TEEKSTA (Wade Rattray) being declared second place getter on the grounds of interference. After taking evidence from both drivers and trainer representatives, viewing the official replays from all angles and acting on their own observations, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the extent of any interference exceeded the margin between fourth and second place getters of 5 metres and dismissed the protest. Stewards then inquired into the reasons for ODINS CALL GIRL losingits position and being obliged to race on the back of TOUCHWOOD TEEKSTA. Mr Wade Rattray pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 163(1)(a) for shifting ground and his licence to drive in races was suspended for one race date.
