Directions: TV and radio commercials can make or break your campaign. You’ve got to get the word out, people have got to know who you are and what you’re running for before they jump on your bandwagon with support, money and votes. Your task is as follows:

RADIO SPOT

  • ALL MEMBERS OF YOUR PARTY HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN SOME WAY, SHAPE OR FORM
  • Your Radio ad needs to be between 0:20 – 0:30 seconds
  • Make sure you mention your party, your name and most importantly, what you’re running for (President)!
  • Be sure you’re in a quiet area – you don’t realize how the littlest of sounds can be projected
  • Test your commercial first! You need to make sure that whatever you save your commercial to, that it has indeed saved, that it can open on another computer, that the sound is working, etc.
  • Have it available in more than one area – putting it on YouTube and emailed to yourself, saved on a flash drive, etc. Make sure that you have more than one copy in case you lose the flash drive, one member from your party doesn’t show up, etc.
  • BE CREATIVE!

TV SPOT

  • YOU MUST HAVE ONE POSTIVE ANDONE NEGATIVE COMMERCIAL
  • Your TV commercial needs to be between 0:30 – 0:45 seconds
  • Make sure you mention your party, your name and most importantly, what you’re running for (President)!
  • WHEN YOU GO NEGATIVE – remember, you cannot do a personal attack on your opposing candidate
  • Test your commercial first! You need to make sure that whatever you save your commercial to, that it has indeed saved, that it can open on another computer, that the sound is working, etc.
  • Have it available in more than one area – putting it on YouTube and emailed to yourself, saved on a flash drive, etc. Make sure that you have more than one copy in case you lose the flash drive, one member from your party doesn’t show up, etc.
  • EDIT, EDIT, EDIT! Throwing this together the day before it’s due will be obvious the next day. Even if you think it looks okay, compared to other parties that have been working on this, it will look thrown together the day before. Start early, watch it, have someone else watch it, get feedback, listen to the feedback.

  • Feel free to add music, images, clips, etc. Just make sure it is school appropriate (no language, obscenity, violence, etc.)
