District 9 Travel Report
Through the week ending September 1, 2018: The following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring long-term lane restrictions and/or closures along the state and federal highway system inODOT District 9. DISTRICTWIDE
A districtwide guardrail replacement project is under way, and crews will be replacing guardrail on various routes throughout District 9’s eight-county region. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane by flaggers, temporary signals and/or arrow boards when crews are at work. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall. A districtwide pavement marking project has begun on various routes throughout District 9’s eight-county region. The project also includes rest areas and park-n-ride locations in the district. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane by flaggers, temporary signals and/or arrow boards when crews are at work. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall. A districtwide bridge maintenance project is under way on routes in Highland, Ross and Scioto counties. Included in the project are bridges located at U.S. 52 at S.R. 335 in Scioto County; U.S. 62 at Leesburg in Highland County; and S.R. 138 west of U.S. 35 in Ross County. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane by flaggers, temporary signals and/or arrow boards when crews are at work. ADAMS COUNTY
Construction is under way on S.R. 770 for an emergency slip repair project. The project site is located near C.R. 14 (Tranquility Pike), approximately two miles east of S.R. 247 at Seaman, and the route is reduced to one lane. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained by temporary signals, and all work is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#18-9012)
BROWN COUNTY
MONDAY, AUGUST 27: A culvert abandonment project is scheduled to begin on U.S. 52, between T.R. 596 (Cornick Run Road) and C.R. 30 (Old U.S. 68). Crews will be bulkheading the inlet and outlet of the structure and filling the culvert barrel. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 10-foot lane with the use of temporary signals, and the project is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#18-1093)
A resurfacing project has begunon S.R. 125 and S.R. 774. Crews will be paving S.R. 125 from U.S. 68 to the Adams County line, as well as S.R. 774 between S.R. 125 and U.S. 68. Throughout construction on either route, traffic will be maintained in one lane by flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#17-0605)
As part of the resurfacing project, S.R. 125 is reduced to one, 11-foot lane between C.R. 25 (Dayhill-Arnheim Road) and T.R. 15 (Conn-Geeslin Road) for bridge repair. Traffic is being maintained with temporary signals (#17-0605)
HIGHLAND COUNTY
A minor widening project is under way on C.R. 1159 (Harry Sauner Road), where crews are installing new curbs, sidewalks, drainage and other features between the route's junction with U.S. 62 (North High Street) and Roberts Lane at Hillsboro. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work; however, motorists may encounter temporary periods of delay. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall. (#18-0168)
AUGUST 27-31: As part of the C.R. 1159 widening project, Harry Sauner Road will be closed in the westbound direction between N. High Street and Roberts Lane for pavement repairs and paving. The closure will be in effect from approximately 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, and motorists will be detoured locally via Hobart and Careytown roads. The route will be open to one lane of traffic in the eastbound direction for motorists traveling from S.R. 73 to U.S. 62.
S.R. 73 has been reopened to traffic at its intersection with C.R. 5 (Prospect Road), where it has been closed as part of a realignment/widening project on Prospect Road. Although the route is open, it will be subject to intermittent lane restrictions; however, traffic will be maintained by flaggers. In addition, restrictions and closures onProspect Road remain in effect, and traffic is being detoured locally. The completion date for the entire project is summer of 2019. (#17-0553)
S.R. 73 is reduced to one, 10-foot lane between T.R. 277A (Diven Road) and T.R. 276B (W. Welcome Road) for a bridge replacement project. The project site is located approximately one mile west of Hillsboro, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with temporary signals.All work is anticipated to be completed in late summer. S.R. 138 is closed between T.R. 360B (McWilliams Road) and S.R. 753, approximately one mile west of Greenfield, for a bridge replacement project. The closure is scheduled to be in effect for up to 30 days, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 28 and S.R. 771; a local detour will also be established. All work associated with the project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#18-0321)
S.R. 134 is closed between T.R. 119B (Kier Road) and T.R. 120 (Crampton Road), just south of Lynchburg, for the second phase of a bridge and culvert replacement project. Throughout construction, traffic will be detoured via U.S. 50 at Dodsonville and S.R. 135 at Allensburg, and the entire project is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#18-0060)
A bridge replacement project is under way on U.S. 50 between T.R. 122A (Spickard Road) and C.R. 6 (Danville Road), near the community of Fairview. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 10-foot lane with temporary signals, and the project is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#18-0138)
U.S. 62 is reduced to one, 10-foot lane between C.R. 79 (Selph Road) and T.R. 384A (Surber Lane), approximately one mile north of Hillsboro,for a bridge replacement project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with temporary signals, and the project is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall. (#18-0362)
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 29: As part of the bridge replacement project on U.S. 62, the route will be subject to short-term periods of closure for crews to set six concrete boxes for the new structure. The intermittent periods of closure will be at any time from approximately 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for up to 15-minute intervals while each box is being set. As the periods of closure will be temporary, therewill be no posted detour, andtraffic will be stopped and held by flaggers and signals.
As part of a districtwide bridge maintenance project to repair two structures on U.S. 62, restrictions are now in effect at the bridge located immediately north of the route's intersection with S.R. 28 at Leesburg. Traffic is being maintained in one lane by temporary signals, and motorists are reminded to use additional caution through the work area and the intersection of U.S. 62 and S.R. 28. JACKSON COUNTY:
MONDAY, AUGUST 27: A resurfacing project is scheduled to begin on S.R. 327 in the city of Wellston, where crews will be paving the route from just south of C.R. 78 (Fairgreens Road) to the north corporation limit. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers and/or temporary signals, and all work is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#18-0227)
A resurfacing project is under way on U.S. 35, where crews will be paving the route from just west of the S.R. 93 interchange to the S.R. 327 intersection. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction, and the project is scheduled to be completed in late fall. (#18-0289)
S.R. 776 is closed between T.R. 244 (Mayhew Road) and T.R. 1046 (Mineral Heights Road)for a bridge replacement project. The closure will be in effect for up to 45 and days, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 32 and S.R. 139. The project is anticipated to be completed in early fall. Intermittent lane restrictions will be in effect on S.R. 327, between T.R. 513 (Thornton Road) and T.R. 153 (June Marshall Road), for paving operations following a bridge replacement project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work.The entire project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#18-0201)
A preventive maintenance project on S.R. 93 has been suspended temporarily. Crews will return in early fall to complete striping and finishing work on the route, between T.R. 738 (Cedar Street) at the southern corporation limit of Oak Hill and T.R. 601 (Sternberger Road). Currently, there is no impact to traffic; however, when crews return to the site, traffic will be maintained by flaggers. (#18-0022)
Operations for a pavement and bridge rehabilitation project continue on C.R. 98 (McCarty Lane), between the roundabout at U.S. 35 and S.R. 93 (Main Street) in the city of Jackson. Single-lane restrictions will be in effect, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by late summer of 2018. (#17-0475)
LAWRENCE COUNTY
C.R. 18 (Solida Road) has been closed between the U.S. 52 eastbound interchange ramps and Collins Avenue at South Point for an intersection improvement project. The closure will be in effect through December 31, 2018, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via either C.R. 120 (Macedonia Road) or C.R. 450 (Grandview Avenue) and C.R. 1 (Old U.S. 52). The westbound interchange ramps will remain open to motorists traveling north on Solida Road. (#18N023)
S.R. 217 is closed at its junction with C.R. 6 (Deering Bald Knob Road) for a bridge replacement project. The project site is located two miles east of S.R. 141, and Deering Bald Knob Road is closed as well.Thru-traffic motorists will be detoured via S.R. 141 and S.R. 378, and a local detoured will be maintained via C.R. 54 (Dog Fork Road). The project is scheduled to be completed by late summer. (#17-0403)
S.R.522 has been reopened to traffic between S.R. 650 and T.R. 254E (Wagner Bridge-Empire Road)following a bridge replacement project. Crews will return to the site to complete paving operations, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work.A schedule to complete the additional paving work has yet to be determined. PIKE COUNTY
Construction is under way on S.R. 552 for a resurfacing and culvert rehabilitation project, and the route has been reopened to traffic following culvert work. Crews are now paving the route between its junction with S.R. 104 and S.R. 220, and during paving operations, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers. All work is anticipated to be completed in late summer. (#18-4002)
C.R. 4 (Pike Lake Road) is closed for a slide repair project. The project site is located immediately south of the Ross County line, north of T.R. 238 (Egypt Hollow Road). Motorists will be detoured via C.R. 28 (Potts Hill Road) in Ross County and C.R. 3 (Morgan’s Fork Road) in Pike County. The project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#18-0177)
An intersection improvement and bridge replacement is under way on S.R. 124, just west of C.R. 6 (Lapperell Road). Traffic on S.R. 124 is being maintained in one lane with the use of temporary signals; however, Lapperell Road is closed and traffic is being detoured via S.R. 124 and S.R. 41. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall. (#17-0579)
ROSS COUNTY
A resurfacing project has begun on S.R. 159 in the city of Chillicothe. Crews will be paving Bridge Street from its junction with U.S. 50 (Main Street) to Marietta Street near the U.S. 35 interchange. Operations will take place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., and traffic will be maintained in one lane in each direction and with the use of flaggers as needed.In addition, the sidewalk across Bridge Street Bridge has been closed for railing repair and installation. Constructioncontinues at the intersection of U.S. 23 and T.R. 279 (Blackwater Road), where crews are installing a left-turn lane from southbound U.S. 23 to T.R. 279. Throughout the project, traffic is being maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction, and Blackwater Road will be subject to periods of temporary closure. A reduced speed limit will also be in effect during working hours. (#18-0232)
As part of construction on U.S. 23, new traffic patterns are in effect at the route’s intersection with C.R. 275 (Crouse Chapel Road),where the median crossover has been closed and left-turn movements from Crouse Chapel Road to U.S. 23 in either direction, as well as Crouse Chapel Road through-traffic movements, are now prohibited. Crouse Chapel Road traffic is now limited to right-in/right-out turning movements.
Construction for a slide repair has begun on U.S. 35 near the C.R. 213B (Musgrove Road) overpass, three miles west of the C.R. 207 (Watson Road) interchange at Richmond Dale. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 12 lane in eachdirection, and the project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#18-0178)
As part of a districtwide bridge maintenance project, S.R. 138 will be subject to single-lane restrictions between the intersections with Austin Road, just west of U.S. 35, for crews to repair expansion joints. A start date has yet to be determined; however, traffic will be maintained in one lane by temporary signals when crews are at work. (#18-0157)
Abridge scour/bank stabilization projectat the Paint Creek Bridge on U.S. 23, just south of Chillicothe, is under way, but as most work will be conducted off the roadway, there should be little to no impact to traffic. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer. (#18-0032)
SCIOTO COUNTY
TBD:A resurfacing project is scheduled to begin on S.R. 140, from C.R. 503 (Gallia Street) at the Portsmouth corporation limit to Dodd Street at the village of South Webster. A start date has yet to be determined; however, throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with the use of flaggers when crews are at work. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall. (#18-0404)
A pavement rehabilitation project is under way on U.S. 23 in the village of Lucasville. Crews will be replacing curbs and ramps and paving the route between T.R. 1203 (Valley Lane) and S.R. 348/S.R. 728, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall. (#18-0295)
S.R. 140 is reduced to one lane at its junction with T.R. 287 (Sugar Camp-Jackson Ford Road)for a bridge replacement project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with temporary signals; however, Sugar Camp-Jackson Ford Road will be closed for up to 45 days, and motorists will be detoured via C.R. 11 (N. Jackson Street) in South Webster and C.R. 52 (Essman Sugar Camp Road). All work is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#18-0328)
A paving project is under way on S.R. 73, where crews will be smooth-sealing the route between T.R. 417 (Primrose Lane) and S.R. 239, as well as conducting bridge repairs. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#18-0268)
S.R. 104 is reduced to one lane between C.R. 32 (Big Bear Creek Road) and the Pike County line for a bridge replacement project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with temporary signals, and the project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#18-0033)
S.R. 253 is reduced to one lane between C.R. 1 (Gallia Pike Road) and the Greenup, Ky. Dam Bridge for a bridge repair and resurfacing project. Traffic is being maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers and temporary barriers. The project is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#18-0072)
S.R. 772 has been reopened to two lanes of traffic near T.R. 77 (Kirker Road), north of S.R. 73 at Rarden, following a slip repair. Crews have finishing work to complete; however, there should be little impact to motorists, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work.(#18-8009)
Operations for a resurfacing project on U.S. 52 in Portsmouth and New Boston continue. Crews are paving the westbound lanes of the route from the city’s eastern corporation limit to U.S. 23, and traffic will be maintained in one lane and by flaggers as needed. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall. (#17-0559)

- C.R. 503 (Ohio River Road) will be subject to single-lane restrictions between S.R. 140/Webster Street and Egbert Street for barrier wall removal, grading and paving. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crew are at work, from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

- U.S. 52 will be subject to single-lane restrictions between the S.R. 140 and the C.R. 550/Wheelersburg exits for bridge construction and lighting installation. The route will be reduced to one, 14-lane lane in each direction, and a reduced speed limit is in effect.

- S.R. 140 will be subject to intermittent, single-lane restrictions between C.R. 503 (Ohio River Road) and T.R. 251 (Hastings Hill Road) for bridge construction and finishing work. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work, from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

- North Pershing Avenue in the city of Portsmouth is closed for reconstruction and relocation. Traffic is being detoured via Marne Avenue.

- C.R. 54 (Morris Lane) will be subject to single-lane restrictions between T.R. 184 (Flatwood-Fallen Timber Road) and T.R. 182 (Blue Run Township Road) for bridge construction.Traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crew are at work, from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

- C.R. 28 (Lucasville-Minford Road) will be reduced to one lane between T.R. 381 (Flowers Ison Road) and T.R. 1570 (Rase’s Mountain Drive) for bridge construction. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers when crews are at work, from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

- U.S. 23 will be subject to single-lane restrictions in both directions between C.R. 55 (Fairgrounds Road) and S.R. 728 for bridge construction and paving operations. The route will be reduced to one, 14-lane lane in both directions, and a reduced speed limit will be in effect.
THRU DECEMBER 2018 /
- C.R. 246 (Stout Hollow Road) is closed at its junction with C.R. 243 (Dutch Ridge Road) for excavation and bridge construction. The closure will be in effect throughout the duration of the project.

- T.R. 234 (Shumway Hollow Road) is closed for relocation and interchange construction. The closure will be in effect throughout the duration of the project.

- Blasting operations are under way, and although there will be no affect to traffic during operations, residents in the general project area may experience sound or ground vibrations from the blasting, which is expected to occur weekdays during the noon hour and again in late afternoon or early evening. Blasting will continue intermittently throughout the duration of the project.
