Volunteer breakdown/General Costume Descriptions for Annie the Musical
Nichi Wagner
Annie - Orphan costume including shoes (see orphan description) – sweater (for orphan scenes) - nice winter dress coat (fur collar if possible) - coordinating winter hat – period appropriate “nicer” dress - “Annie” Dress (Red with white collar, belt and cuffs) – black mary janes (shiny if possible) - white bobby socks
Daddy Warbucks - White shirt - dess pants – dress shoes – black bow tie - vest – possibly suit jacket – nice winter dress coat (long) in black or dark gray – nice scarf
Grace - Business attire (suit or blouse with skirt) – sensible heels – nice winter coat – gown appropriate for time period (simple and stylish)
Rooster/Ralph Mudge - Button-up shirt - tan dress pants – tie – suspenders – loafers – dress coat (Gift of The Magi Outfit is perfect) – add a fedora, overcoat for Ralph Mudge, disguise
Lily/Shirley Mudge - Silky dress – over the top fancy hat – high heels, add long overcoat, vintage hat

Servant chorus - Black dress with some sort of sleeve - white apron (will be provided) – black flats
Drake - Chorale uniform with black bowtie

Cecille - Black dress with some sort of sleeve – white apron – black flats
Annette - Black dress with some sort of sleeve – white apron – black flats
Usherette - Black dress shorts (not too short) with tights, white shirt, vest, black flats or heels

Miss Hannigan - Flowy dress in silky material and/or large floral pattern retro-style if possible– lace trimmed slip slightly longer than dress – thigh high stockings or knee high stockings that are rolled down around the ankles – heels (with strap if possible) – long strand or two of costume pearls – robe with a pocket, messy hair with headband when at orphanage, more professional dress for final scenes
Judge Brandeis -White shirt, dress pants, black judges robe (graduation gown)
Lt. Ward and policeman - Matching navy pants and shirt, police hat, badge
Chauffeur - Black pants, winter dress coat (long), white shirt, bow tie, chauffeurs’ cap

Bright colors - nice clothing - brightly colored gloves, scarfs and/or vintage hats, – nice (long) coats if available in any color, no neon, black dress shoes
Hooverville Chorus
Darkly colored pants and shirts in grays, blacks or navy – dark older coats – nothing nice, you are outside in the cold so consider hats, gloves or scarves, dark colored shoes or boots. No bright colors.
Hooverville residents, Servants, and NYC citizens: Your costume changes must happen VERY QUICKLY due to scene changes! Think about how you can layer clothing so that you only have to change a few items modestly without having a changing room available.
