A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE W. WYMAN KING ACADEMY KNIGHTS BASEBALL TEAM, OF BATESBURG IN SALUDA COUNTY, ON WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS ASSOCIATION CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND TO COMMEND THE HARD WORK AND DETERMINATION OF THE PLAYERS, COACHES, STAFF, AND OTHER SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR THEIR 2003 CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP WIN.

Whereas, the Knights ended the season with an outstanding record of seventeen wins and two losses and won their second state title in three years. Sid Fallaw led the W. Wyman King Baseball Team to victory over Laurens Academy with his superb pitching. He pitched a nohitter and struck out ten batters; and

Whereas, under the exceptional leadership of Head Coach, Mike Prochaska, and his Assistant Coaches, Joey Long, Dondi Rogers, and Mark Dudley, the Knights were able to win the State Championship; and

Whereas, the members of the remarkable 2003 Knights Baseball Team included: Austin Schwartz, Sid Fallaw, Grant Whittle, Michael Pridmore, Taylor Rutland, Matt Williams, Kirk McCants, Paul Corley, Jonathon Watkins, Andrew Polatty, James Crouch, Dustin Burnett, Nich Bland, Jarrod Frick, Randy Sharpe, and Samuel Pridgen; and

Whereas, several King Academy players were honored for their accomplishments this season by receiving awards. Taylor Rutland, Jonathon Watkins, Kirk McCants, Sam Pridgen, and Sid Fallaw were named to the Region IIA AllRegion team and were picked by the coaches association to represent the region in the State AllStar game; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to honor the W. Wyman King Academy Baseball Team for winning the 2003 Class A State Championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the W. Wyman King Academy Knights Baseball Team, of Batesburg in Saluda County, on winning the South Carolina Independent Schools Association Class A State Championship Title and commend the hard work and determination of the players, coaches, staff, and other school officials for their 2003 Class A State Championship win.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the W. Wyman King Academy Knights Baseball Team.
