1.03ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS

B.Preinstallation Meeting:
1.Contractor shall arrange meeting to be attended by University’s Representative, Contractor and Contractor’s installer, and agents of manufacturers, all of whom shall have had at least one week’s advance notice.
2.Convene meeting minimum one week prior to commencing work of this Section.
3.Conference shall be held at the job site.
4.Review requirements of related work, preparation, storage and handling, materials, specification requirements, coordination with related or adjoining work, surface preparation, work sequence,application, curing, and protection
C.Sequencing: Where possible, install flooring prior to installation of finished wall surfaces or other building materials which may be damaged by contact with water or slurry.

B.Materials and Resources Characteristics:

1.05SUBMITTALS
A.See Section 013300 - Submittal Procedures, for submittal procedures.
B.Product Data including manufacturer’s printed chemical resistance tables.
C.Certifications: Submit the following certifications indicating that:
1.Installer meets qualifications specified in this Section.
D.Samples: 8-1/2 by 11 inches, for color and texture review; other Samples only as requested.
E.Maintenance Instructions:
1.Submit manufacturer’s recommended maintenance instructions for each type of flooring installed, including maintenance procedures, maintenance materials, and suggested schedule for cleaning, stripping, and waxing.
2.Include precautions to be taken against materials and methods that may be detrimental to resilient tile flooring finish.
3.Submit copy of receipt for maintenance materials.
4.Maintenance data to be included in the Maintenance Manual specified in Section 017800 - Closeout Submittals.

1.06[SUSTAINABLE DESIGN SUBMITTALS]
A.Section 013563 - Sustainability Project Requirements: Requirements for sustainable design submittals.
B.Manufacturer's Certificate: Certify products meet or exceed specified sustainable design requirements.
1.Materials Resources Certificates:
a.Certify recycled material content for recycled content products.
b.Certify source for regional materials and distance from Project site.
2.Indoor Air Quality Certificates:
a.Certify volatile organic compound content for each interior [adhesive ][and][sealant] and related primer.
C.Product Cost Data: Submit cost of products to verify compliance with Project sustainable design requirements. Exclude cost of labor and equipment to install products.
1.Provide cost data for the following products:
a.Products with recycled material content.
b.Regional products.
1.07QUALITY ASSURANCE
A.Installer’s Qualifications:
1.Installer of resinous flooring shall be licensed or otherwise certified by resinous flooringmanufacturer and shall have been regularly providing installations of the types required for no less than five years and proving a background of not less than three years of installations of comparable size to that herein specified.
2.Provide list of completed projects including project name and location, name of architect, name of material manufacturer, and approximate quantity of materials applied.
3.Installer’s Personnel: Employ persons trained for application of specified materials.
1.08DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A.Deliver and store packaged products in original unopened containers clearly marked with manufacturer’s name, product name, batch or lot number, and date of manufacture.
B.Storage:
1.Store delivered products in clean, safe, dry area in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
2.Keep containers sealed until ready for use.
3.Do not subject material to freezing; do not apply material that has been subjected to freezing. Material subjected to freezing shall be separated from inventory and destroyed by mixing all three components. The solid reacted product shall be disposed of in environmentally sound and regulatory compliant manner.
C.Handling: Protect materials during handling and application to prevent damage or contamination.
1.09SITE CONDITIONS
A.Do not apply materials if floor or air temperature is below 65 degrees Fahrenheit or above 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
B.Do not apply materials if relative humidity is above 85 percent or within 5 degrees of dew point at time of application
C.Maintain room temperature between 65 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit for 48 hours before, during and 48 hours after installation, or until cured.
D.At the time of application ensure the minimum substrate temperature is above 65 degrees Fahrenheit and the substrate temperature is 5 degrees Fahrenheit above the measured dew point.
E.Provide ventilation, lighting and clean, drinkable water supply.
F.Floors shall be kept free of traffic and no trades shall be permitted in rooms during the application and curing of the coating.
PART 2PRODUCTS
2.01FLOORING SYSTEMS
A.Resinous Flooring consists of the following::
1.Primer.
2.Base Coat.
3.Grout Coat.
4.Decorative Flake.
5.Two Grout Coats.
6.Top Coat.
2.02COMPONENTS
A.Primer:
1.Description: Two-component, high solids epoxy system used as binder.
2.Product: Sika Corp.’s “Sikafloor 207”; or equal
B.Base Coat:
1.Description: Three-component, high solids epoxy/modified polyamine concrete floor resurfacer.
2.Product: Sika Corp.’s “Sikafloor 110”; or equal
C.Grout Coat:
1.Description: Two-component, 100 percent solids, clear epoxy coating.
2.Product: Sika Corp.’s “Sikafloor 203”; or equal
D.Top Coat:
1.Description: Two-component, high solids, abrasion resistant, chemical resistant, clear aliphatic polyurethane, UV resistant epoxy coating.
2.Product: Sika Corp.’s “Sikafloor 315”; or equal.
2.03RELATED MATERIALS
A.Decorative Flake (Paint Chips): 1/8 inch paint chip.
B.Divider Strips:
1.Product: [Plastic, ]—or—[Brass, ]—or—[______, ]type as indicated on Drawings.
2.Manufacturer: Schluter Systems; Manhattan American Terrazzo Strip Co.; Rudel Floor Strip Co.; or equal.
C.Base Beads:
1.Product: Zinc type as noted.

2.04MIXES
A.Mix resinous flooring in accordance with approved manufacturer’s recommendations.
B.Do not add thinners to materials. No thinners shall be approved or allowed.
2.05FINISHES
A.Resinous Flooring:
1.Finish Surface: Semi-gloss, nonporous and slip-resistant.
2.Colors: As indicated on Drawings
PART 3EXECUTION
3.01EXAMINATION
A.Examine receiving subfloors and verify that conditions meet minimum requirements established by resinous flooring manufacturer.
3.02PREPARATION
A.Prepare concrete surfaces in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and ASTM D4258.
B.Verify that no admixtures or curing agents have been used on subfloor which will adversely affect resinous flooring.
C.Do not install resinous flooring until conditions are satisfactory.
D.Remove any grease, dirt, paint, concrete, laitance, or other materials which will prevent proper adhesion of matrix to base surface by solvent wiping, scrubbing with detergent and rinsing, acid etching, scarifying, sandblasting, or other suitable means. Allow surface to dry completely prior to application of topping.
E.Remove unsound concrete by scarifying, sand blasting, shot blasting, or high pressure water blasting.
F.Mechanical Surface Preparation
1.Mechanically abrade concrete surface in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
2.Leave concrete surface with an aggressive texture.
3.Remove concrete dust.
4.Conform to ASTM D4259.
5.Surface profile shall conform to ICRI Guideline 03732P:
a.CSP 4 - 6 for 3/16-inch base layer systems.
G.Advise other trades of fixtures and fittings not to be installed until floor is cured, such as: radiators, painting, decorating, floor-supported equipment or cabinetwork, caulking, plumbing, fixtures, and similar items.
H.Erect suitable barriers and post legible signs at points of entry to prevent traffic and trades from entering the work area during application and cure period of the floor.
I.Protection: Protect adjacent surfaces from damage resulting from work of this trade. if necessary, mask and/or cover adjacent surfaces, fixtures, equipment, and similar items by suitable means.
3.03CONTROL JOINT, CRACKS
A.Provide repair and treatment of control joints and surface cracks utilizing manufacturer’s standard materials and installation details.
3.04INSTALLATION
A.Install resinous flooring in accordance with manufacturer’s printed instructions.
B.Primer: Apply one layer of primer at 5-10 mil thickness.
C.Base Coat. Apply one layer of base coat at 1/4 inchthickness.
D.Grout Coat: Apply one layer of grout coat at 8-10 milsthicknesswith squeegee and backroll. Allow material to level and broadcast to rejection with decorative flake. Then apply two more layers of grout coat at 8-10 mils thickness.
E.Top Coat: Apply one layer at 4 mils dry film thickness with a high quality, 1/4 inch nap roller.
F.Follow manufacturer’s recommendations on terminations and connections to walls, drains, doorways, columns and floor-to-floor transitions.
G.[Cove Base: Install coved base in accordance with manufacturer’s printed instructions.]
H.Finish surface to be smooth, with uniform texture, free of surface defects, and without porous areas.
3.05FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
A.Arrange for manufacturer’s representative to personally inspect installation and state in writing that work was installed in accordance with his recommendations.
3.06CLEANING
A.Thoroughly clean surfaces prior to final acceptance.
B.Remove and replace any scratched or damaged surfaces.
3.07PROTECTION OF INSTALLED WORK
A.Protect installed Work under provisions of Section 017600 - Protecting Installed Work.
B.Permit no traffic on flooring for minimum of 24 hours after application final finish coat.
C.Protect resinous flooring during curing from traffic and chemical spillage. Based on air temperature of 72 degrees Fahrenheit.
1.Foot Traffic: Minimum of 24 hours.
2.Light Traffic: 36-48 hours.
3.Full Cure: 5 days.
4.Chemical Spillage: 7 days.
