Rolling Hills Elementary Fifth and Sixth Graders Presents…
Rehearsals, singing, dancing, staging… It’s the start of our new school musical! If you are willing to dedicate your time and show us your enthusiasm, we want you as part of our team. There is a lot of information in this letter, so please review it carefully. Of course, if you have any questions after reading it, please email us.
Audition Information
· All 5th and 6th grade students are given equal consideration for any acting, singing, or dancing part.
· This is a HUGE commitment of your time and energy. If you decide to audition, we must be able to count on you to learn your lines, songs, and choreography, provide your costume, and arrange transportation to and from rehearsals.
· If you cannot commit to all the performance and dress rehearsal dates that are listed, you can not commit to being in the musical.
Dates:
· Sign-ups for auditions of High School Musical, Jr. will be done using sign-up genius. This link will be sent to all 5th and 6th grade parents via the internet USING THIS LINK: http://www.crsd.org/Page/49041
· Anyone interested in being on stage in a specific role must have a singing/acting audition. All students who complete an audition will be cast in the musical. If you do not want a lead role, you do not have to audition to join the chorus (singing and dancing)!
· Acting and Singing Auditions will be held Ms. Cerra’s room on Tuesday, October 25th,
3:50 p.m.– 6:15 p.m., and Wednesday, October 26th, 8 a.m. – 9:20 a.m.
o If you audition Tuesday afternoon, you may leave with your ride immediately following your audition. You may wait for your ride in the front hallway. Please do not roam the hallways or go outside.
Parents are asked to come into the building to sign out your child outside the music room after their audition.
· Callbacks will take place on Thursday, October 27th, 8:00 a.m. in the music room.
If you do not get a call back – do not fret!
Acting: (see attached scoring rubric)
· You will be asked to read from the attached script. Please have it memorized:
o Girls – Gabriella’s part
o Boys – Troy’s part
Singing:
· You will sing the attached song portion of, “We’re All in This Together.”
· You may access sound clip by visiting this website:
http://www.crsd.org/Page/49041
The cast list will be announced on Friday, October 28th at 3:15 in the gym.
Best of luck to all our actors. We can’t wait to see you shine!
Rehearsal Information
· Rehearsals for our show will be held on Friday mornings at 8:00 a.m. and Monday and Thursday afternoons from 3:45-5:00 p.m., beginning on Thursday, November 3rd – Thursday, December 8th.
· Rehearsals for our show will be held on Monday afternoons from 3:45-5:00 p.m., Wednesday and Friday mornings at 8:00 a.m. beginning on Wednesday, December 14th.
· Set design/stage crew will not be attending rehearsals until January, 2017.
· Please attend rehearsals with your script book and a pencil. Be sure to read your scrip before coming to rehearsal.
· No matter what part you are given, please be available for designated rehearsal times. Just as it is difficult to rehearse lines with a title character absent, it is impossible for the ensemble to rehearse blocking and singing without the full group.
· A schedule for the season will be distributed at the first rehearsal. Dress rehearsals are mandatory for all participants. Students are expected to be at all other assigned rehearsals, as per the schedule, unless they were absent from school or sent home early from the nurse’s office.
· It is imperative that you are picked up promptly at 5:00 pm. Your directors have their own evening commitments and must leave promptly as well. Please be considerate and responsible about getting picked up on time.
· Students must be trusted to be on their best behavior during rehearsals. If a student receives a RHE Respect Behavioral notice upon more than one occasion, dismissal from the group may occur.

RHE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL JR. AUDITION – SPOKEN DIALOGUE
Boys – read Troy’s part
Girls – read Gabriella’s part
GABRIELLA
How crazy was that?!?
(catching her breath)
Wow, so this is your private hideout?
TROY
Thanks to the Horticulture Club. I come up here when I want to be alone.
GABRIELLA
Must be tricky being the coach's son.
TROY
He's gonna freak when he hears about the singing thing.
GABRIELLA
You're worried?
TROY
Sometimes I don't want to be "the basketball guy." I just want to be, you know, me.
GABRIELLA
I know what you mean. At my other schools I was always "the freaky math girl." I hated it.
TROY
But you can't let people stop you from doing what you want to do, right?
GABRIELLA
Remember how cool kindergarten was? You'd meet somebody, and ten minutes later you were best friends.
TROY
Yeah, they didn't care if you could shoot hoops or solve equations.
GABRIELLA
Right. So you really want to do the callbacks?
TROY
Hey, just call me "freaky callback boy."
GABRIELLA
Thanks for showing me your top-secret hiding place. Just like kindergarten.
TROY
Be your best friend.
“We’re All in This Together” song lyrics
“Yesterday, we all we on our own road, We didn’t really know,
That each of us, bring something to the table, To help the others’ grow,
Now’s the chance, to take new direction, To see through other eyes,
To make a choice, to make a new connection, To win the bigger prize….
We’re all in this together,
Once we know, that we are, we’re all stars, and we see that,
We’re all in this together, And it shows when we stand hand in hand,

Make our dreams come true !”
