My Faithful prayer partner/s in the Faith and in the defence of the Gospel (Phil. 1:5, 7)
This Berita should cover my journey up mountain peaks and down the valleys from September to the end of this year. It has been a term of very varied experiences only successfully manoeuvred and managed by the special grace of God.
A. THE MOUNTAIN-PEAK EXPERIENCES.
1) Holy Land Tour to Egypt, Israel and Petra on 30th May – June 10.
This was my wife’s and my second trip to Israel sponsored by the same party about 10 years ago. This time it was for an advanced celebration of our 79th and 80th birthdays respectively. This trip was a good refresher of our 1st trip to Israel though in a way it was a little disappointing because of the local Coptic guides who stressed more on the knowledge of their traditional churches, rituals and legends associated with them instead of giving us a biblical perspective of the places visited. However, we enjoyed our first visits to Egypt (the land of pyramids) and Petra (the rock fortress city.) Reports of our tour were posted out with Berita Bethel Vol. 19. Nos. 1, 2.
2) My 20th Anniversary of Commended Service unto the Lord on 16th October. [See Vol. 20 No. 1]
I was commended (released) by my home assembly, Burmah Road Gospel Hall on 16th October, 1996 to minister to the Lord’s people in assemblies in Malaysia, Singapore (and elsewhere). During the 20 years of service unto the Lord, He had opened the doors not only to the assemblies in West and East Malaysia and Singapore, but also in Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Korea, Taiwan, India, Australia, and the US with informal visits to China, Japan, Belgium, etc.
I personally would like to thank the assemblies which corporately celebrated the occasion with me as follows:- Sungai Ara Gospel Hall (16th Oct.), Butterworth Gospel Hall (6th Nov.) and Burmah Road Gospel Hall (20th, 27th Nov.). In all three assemblies, I also gave a thanksgiving brunch unto the Lord. My home assembly generously came out in full force to memorialize the occasion for me with another substantial thanksgiving brunch, a brief thanksgiving service after the Lord’s Supper and my testimony of my ministry, a commemorative pewter photo frame of my wife and I and a love-gift of RM4000.00. I sincerely thank the Lord for this very loving generous gesture of my home assembly. In gratefulness to the Lord and in appreciation of His protection and provision for me all these 20 years, I shared this gift of RM4000.00 equally with GoOutreach WorldWide (GOWW), Christian Missions Charitable Trust (CMCT), New Hope Christian Ministries and The Courtallam Camping Centre Trust in Tamil Nadu, India. All these mission stations are very dear to my heart and have played important roles in my ministry for the Lord.
I also thank the Lord for individual believers, prayer-partners, who wrote in

Once again I am reminded how you did teach and guide us - the young people - through DVBS and even at RBS. It has been the foundation for greater faith.

Happy too that BRGH has organised this special occasion to remember your service unto the Lord. I had planned to be there. I am grateful for the teaching and the love for God's word through your ministry. May our Good Lord bless you and keep you. May He grant you much joy as you minister to His saints. May He grant you good health and strength. May he broaden your coast and shower you with bountiful blessings. Once again, Thank You.
Sonny & Juno Ng – Well, well, Mr. Ung, It was great reading about your journey. And Alvin wrote well too. Thanks for providing some insight into your own service and calling. Praying that God will add many more years to your life so you can continue to benefit us!
Andre Ow & Christina – Thank you for yourBeritaBethel. We're extremely delighted to know that you & Aunty have served the Lord with diligence, steadfast faith and toil over the past20years. It's a joy to note the saints of all those assemblies with which you associate have received much spiritual food and edification from your sound and systematic teaching - a gift which only the Spirit of God can bestow upon His beloved servants.
My personal indelible memory of you as an instrument of the Lord for my eventual salvation at the BRGH Bible Camp at Butu Ferringgi in 1963 (?) is constantly a joy to behold. I always remember as a boy in Penang how our unsaved relatives spoke of your untiring devotion to things of the Lord whom they never knew. Yet such a report from the lips of those from without bore testimony to your life of faith as a young man and a gospel to their hearts. It didn't come as surprise to me personally that finally at a time you believed was appointed of the Lord, the call for full-time service had arrived and you obeyed. Praise the Lord!
We trust as you, your close Christian family members and all who are beloved of Lord in the Penang assemblies and elsewhere celebrate your 20th Anniversary of Commendation to the Lord's Service, there might be much thankfulness to the Lord for His keeping power and rejoicing of hearts among His people. We'll join with you in prayers on 20th October to remember the blessed occasion. With love in the Lord

3) Our 6D5N Cruise on Costa Victoria.
This was a dream of mine to de-stress and relax after “a hard term’s ministry” of preparation of my weekly Ruminations and studies in the various assemblies. Both my wife and I enjoy cruises but these days the fares keep on increasing and so we keep on dreaming.
