“Christ is our Light” w/e 18th Oct 13
Half Term Week
A reminder that half term week begins on Sat 26th Oct with children returning to school on Mon 4th Nov.
Sport Fixtures
Netball – Our netball team played a game against St Mary and St Benedict on Tuesday, winning 6-3. It was a very close game with Kelly and Finn both being named Player of the Match. Well done to Grace for great shooting too! Their next game is on Mon 21st at 3.30pm away at Our Lady of Assumption. Best of luck team! There will be no netball training after school on Thurs 24th Oct.
Football – All Souls football team had a match against St John Vianney last Friday in which they lost 5-1, however they fought back on Tuesday night against Grange Hurst, winning 6-1. Josh won player of the match and the whole team played brilliantly. Their next game is away at Holy Family, which has been rearranged for Thurs 24th Oct, 3.30pm. Good luck footballers!
Basketball – The Senior Basketballers, in year 4, 5 and 6 are taking part in a tournament on Tue 22nd Oct at Hereward College. They will be playing several matches against a selection of schools from Coventry. Letters will be sent home later today to the team.
Please try your best to watch the games and support our fantastic sports teams.
Year 6 Transfer Forms
A reminder that the deadline for transfer forms is Thurs 31st Oct, during half term. It is absolutely imperative that all year 6 children complete a secondary transfer form and submit it by the above date. Even if your child is applying to an independent/grammar school, they should apply for a place at a local maintained school. This can be turned down at a later date.
Free School Meals
Much of the finance school is awarded is based on the number of children receiving free school meals. We are aware that some of our families are entitled but do not claim free school meals. Please could we ask, if this applies to you that you consider registering to benefit the school. You may be entitled to free school meals if you are in receipt of income support, job seekers allowance, employ and support allowance and asylum seekers.
Parent View
We are always interested in hearing parents’ views of our school, so are other agencies such as Ofsted. In fact, they form an important part of the inspection process. Ofsted have a dedicated website where parents can give their views of the school. We very much encourage you to do so. Please visit www.parentview.ofsted.gov.uk and log on to give your views of our school. Thank you.
Class Trips
Year 3 took a class trip to Coventry City Centre to learn about the history of Coventry. They visited the Herbert, the Priory Centre and even had the opportunity to sing in Holy Trinity church. They also were the first year group to wear their tracksuits on a school trip and received many compliments on how smart they looked and their fantastic behaviour.
Year 4 will be visiting Dudley Zoo on Weds 23rd Oct for their class theme of spiders. Letters have now been sent home and payment and consent forms need to be returned by Mon 21st Oct.
Year 5 will be visiting Cadbury World on Tues 5th Nov for the start of their new class theme next term. They will be learning about the Aztec Civilisation, the historical development of the Cadbury industry and about product design and packaging. Letters were sent home this week and consent forms and payment need to be returned by Fri 25th Oct.
Please be aware, unfortunately if a child does not return their permission slip before the trip, they will have to stay in school. We are no longer phoning home for consent.
Clubs
There will be no Art Club or Netball Club on Thurs 24th Oct.
Help Harry Help Others
A big well done to Joshua in year 3 for his bracelet sale last Friday. The money made is being donated to the Help Harry Help Others campaign, a charity started by a child named Harry who, whilst battling a brain tumour wanted to help other people with serious illnesses. Joshua should feel very proud of himself for all the hard work he put into making and selling the bracelets.
My Activities School Holiday Camp
A holiday camp is taking place over half term at Allesley Hall Primary School for children aged 4-14 years. Each day they will be running an activity camp from 9.00-4.30pm, a 3 day football camp and a Halloween themed day on Thurs 31st Oct. See the attached leaflet for more details.
