High Street YMCA Volunteer Opportunities
General duties are mentioned to give you an idea of areas of opportunity, but other duties may be included. Please note: for student volunteers, duties and departments will be assigned based on need/availability and shifts are filled on a first-come-first-served basis. Please mark all areas that interest you.
Office/Clerical (10 & older): may include shredding, folding, organizing, filing, typing, etc. Available hours are on a need-by-need basis.
Membership (18 & older): assist with member check-in, tours, greeting members. Any available hours.
Kid’s Corner (15 & older): work with children 3-9 in a playful environment. Available hours are Mon. – Fri. 8:15am – 1:15pm & 4:00-8:00pm, Sat. 8:15am – 1:15pm. Sunday hours may be available based on time of year and number of children in arcade.
Special Events/Family Programming (12 & older): Special events occur at various times throughout the year. Examples include Healthy Kids Day, Splash, Reindeer Ramble, Fall Festival and more. Family Programs occur on a monthly basis typically Friday nights for 3-4 hours.
Youth Sports Coach (15 & older): Must have knowledge of particular sport and how to teach that sport to children 4-11 years. Contact Elissa for more information.
Sports/Aquatics Instructor Assistant (12 & older): Must have knowledge of sport and will assist trained staff instructor. Available hours depend on what classes are going at that time.
Scorekeeper (10 & older): Keep stats and scores for youth basketball games. Sat. 3:30-5:30pm. (seasonal)
Wellness (10 & older): Assist wellness staff with cleaning of equipment, laundry and greeting/interacting with members. Any available hours.
Instructor (16 & older): Type of class: ______. Availability would depend on type of class and space.
Maintenance/Janitorial (12 & older): Performing janitorial duties or maintenance duties based on experience and interests. Any available hours.
Policy Volunteer (16 & older): Participate on branch board or committees in area of program, finance and facility.
Fundraising Volunteer: Assist with Annual Giving Campaign through events, activities or more.
