TOPIC: JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
POLICY TITLE: VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT ASSISTANT
Purpose:
The primary role of this position is to improve and expand the processes and systems to recruit volunteers at HCSS GB. The Volunteer Recruitment Assistant will report to the Team Leader, and will help develop and implement consistent and effective volunteer recruitment, and will assist with administative processes related to volunteer orientation and training.All duties will be carried out in accordance with agency policies and procedures and the mission of Home and Community Support Services of Grey Bruce
Responsibility for Volunteer Recruitment:
- Review and update volunteer recruitment materials and resources;
- Review current volunteer policies and practices and recommend any necessary changes, based on today's realities and tomorrow's challenges;
- Provide accurate cost estimates of producing adequate recruitment material as well as any equipment necessary to produce ongoing recruitment materials;
- Attend community and promotional events in consultation with the Team Leader and provide written feedback regarding the effectiveness ofthe events and HCSS promotional material;
- Prepare templates and systems for implementation of a Volunteer Recruitment Social Media campaign
- Assist Team Leaders in developing projected needs for volunteers
- Develop and maintain an up to date list of sources for potential volunteer recruitment and make initial contact with the goal of recruiting volunteers an ongoing basis;
Responsibility for Volunteer Registration, Orientation, Development and Recognition.
- Process volunteer registration, criminal records check where appropriate and ensure volunteer has up to date orientation and job description material;
- Assist with volunteer orientation and training
- Assist with volunteer evaluation, service evaluation and input into service planning and delivery;
- Assist with preparations for annual autumn volunteer recognition events in Grey-Bruce;
Responsibility for Administration:
- Assist with Volunteer data base updates and entry
- Submit monthly reports as required
- Participate in the development of agency policies and procedures
- Attend monthly team meetings
Responsibility for Program Enhancement and Development:
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with community groups;
- Identify communication gaps and recommend improved processes;

Qualifications:
Exceptional interpersonal, communication and organization skills
Ability to successfully multitask in a busy environment
Experience with computer data base, spreadsheets, word processing and publishing software
Ability to initiate contact with individuals and groups and act as an ambassador for HCSS
Minimum one year volunteer experience with a community organizatoin
Demonstrated knowledge of health and social service agencies in Grey Bruce
Proven ability to make public presentations
Current driver’s license and reliable vehicle
Currently attending full-time College or University and returning in the fall to full-time studies
Field of study: Humanities or Human Resources is an asset
Funding requirements – must be between 15 and 30 years of age
