Library Associate / Circulation Manager

What you’ll do:

·  Coordinate the flow library materials throughout the Polk County Public Libraries: oversee check in, check out, shelving, holds

·  Facilitate customer logistics: account registration & maintenance, renewals, and fines

·  Supervise circulation staff: scheduling, training, evaluating, mentoring; act as a resource to all library branches and departments

·  Develop procedures and practices that make library easy, intuitive and friendly; participate in policy development

·  Collaborate with other libraries to share resources via consortia and Interlibrary Loan

·  Resolve customer inquiries and concerns

·  Embrace technology as a tool for customer access and staff efficiency

·  Coordinate volunteers: recruit, train, and recognize those who donate their time

·  Provide assistance to customers as they seek materials, use computers and technology, participate in programs and enjoy all that the library has to offer

·  Model and promote excellent customer service

·  Work closely with the Library Director to develop and implement system-wide initiatives

·  Be a library leader, using circulation experience to inform management decisions and ensure consistent, high-quality service

What you need:

·  A desire to work with the public; must be comfortable working with a diverse population of all ages and backgrounds, individually and in groups

·  Minimum of four years experience in customer service with some supervisory experience or training; preference for library circulation experience

·  Knowledge of current personal computer technologies, e.g. email systems, Internet, word processors, spreadsheet applications, desktop publishing, current operating systems, etc.

·  A valid driver’s license and the means to travel throughout Polk County

·  Bachelor's degree, or equivalent higher education or vocational training

Starting Salary: $24,231
