5.Senior Field Day information and payment deadline (5/11)

  1. Senior Field Day will be Friday, May 11th.
  2. Information will be provided to your Literature teacher on 4/25 to be shown in class
  3. If you do not have a Literature class on our campus, that information will be uploaded to the school website. You will sign up for field day events through Mrs. Russell (Room 804) beginning April 30th.
  4. Your $10 payment (if not already paid) is due before the morning of May 11th or you will not be allowed to participate
  5. Grades will be checked after school Monday, May 7th. Any Senior failing 2 or more classes will be put on a list as ineligible to participate and must be in class that day. These seniors will still receive their shirt but WILL NOT receive a refund.
  6. T-shirts will be delivered through English classes the week of May 7th.

6.Make wise choices during the next 23 days

  1. Be sure that your decisions do not lead to participation in the graduation ceremony being in question.
  2. Make sure you are doing the right thing the right way all of the time.
  3. Now is the time to get more focused, not succumb to Senioritis!
  4. Remember that grades come first. Everyone must qualify to graduate in order to participate in the ceremony.

7.Reminders

Graduation Practice starts in the McGill Building, where Prom was held, on May 24th. Park at the North Gate. Attendance is mandatory in order to participate in the graduation ceremony. You must arrive NO LATER THAN 7:30am to begin lining up. Practice begins promptly at 8:00am and we need you lined up before that time. Be mindful of your dress that day, as there will be many representatives from our board of education and community present and you represent Houston County High School. Remember, if you do not practice, you do not walk!

Graduation lineup is in the McGill Building, where Prom was held, on May 25th. Park at North Gate. Attendance is mandatory. Remember how bad traffic has been in the past few years if you have attended a graduation! Leave plenty of time to be on time! You must arrive NO LATER THAN 3:30pm and begin lining up in the same manner as in practice. Graduation will begin promptly at 4:30pm and we need plenty of time to ensure you have all of the necessary pieces of attire and look your best. Let your parents know that the doors to graduation will close at 4:15pm.

Dress Code for the Ceremony (Friday, May 25th, 4:30pm):

Guys: Black Pants, Black Socks, Black Shoes, White Shirt, Black Tie/Bowtie (if patterned, must be black/white/silver, majority black)

Girls: Black Dress, White Shirt/Blouse (if showing). Anything showing from the bottom of gown must be black. Anything showing from top of gown must be white. Black Shoes (if wedges, must be black on top with black or cork wedge). The ceremony building has a slick floor and you must go up and down steps to go across the stage, so be mindful if wearing heels.

8.Make sure your fines are paid. You cannot participate in Graduation if you have an outstanding fine with the school.

9.Unpack the gown from your cap and gown package and put it on a hanger TONIGHT!!!!! If the wrinkles do not fall out fast enough for you, steam the gown. DO NOT IRON THE GRADUATION GOWN!!!
